Swinney explains why Lyn-J Dixon has had limited carries: "Needs to grow up"

The Clemson running game only had two rushing yards in their 10-3 loss to Georgia last weekend. Fast forward this week, Clemson had an impressive performance rushing 36 times for 242 yards in the team's 49-3 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday. Lyn-J Dixon only had four carries for 27 yard Read Update »

B U L L C H I T, the problem with kids these days isn't that they don't like authority, it's bc they don't fear the consequences from disrespecting authority. The very moment that law makers took away the parents right to raise obedient respectful kids from fear of being thrown in jail. That is the problem with todays kids, they know they don't have to listen to their parents bc they will call the police on their parents if they get their butts whipped!!!! I concur 100%! When kids had to have "TimeOuts" vs a stern correction

Sep 11, 2021, 11:26 PM

That is when teachers could not use red ink to correct papers because that was too harsh! When kids could no longer be corrected in school or at home, that's when taxpayer's had to pay for cops in schools because two 15yr olds might get into a scuffle and teachers or principal couldn't break up for fear of being accosted and sued by over protective parents. And kids learned they can cuss a teacher out for telling them to get off their phone with no recourse.

This is pussification of America at its best. And it's only swinging that way 10x faster than it was 3yrs ago. Kids have zero repercussions and don't fear authority therefore they think they are equals in a society when then are tiers of authority.

authority at home... So why did the raising them up in the fear and admonition of the Almighty not nip all this in the bud? I've seen just as many 1, 2 and 3 year old tyrants screaming, kicking, and telling two adults what they will or will not do as I have seen the little tyrants telling 1 adult what they will or will not do, so single parents are not the problem. Good adults raise good children, but there are other adults who lead children astray with promises, shiny objects and undue adulation, so that is still an adult problem creating unruly children.

Children can have a parent problem because they learn at home FIRST how they will behave. A child that learns how to behave properly at home will behave properly in public and that doesn't change much when they get older, unless that problem adult comes along and usurps the child's attention and becomes an unruly influence that usurps the authority at home.

Don't blame the law, blame the incorrigible adults in the lives of these children, some are parents and some are adults of influence, but that is still on adults who do not provide proper love and direction for these children and young people...

Children must first learn how to be, and it's on adults to lead, guide and love them into how to be...

Sep 13, 2021, 10:04 AM [ in reply to Re: Yeah, kids don't like being called out like that ]

There is discipline and there is abuse... the law has always dealt with abuse but no parent should abuse a child anyway. Discipline your children in the way that best works for that child, it's not quantum physics, it's very simply I'm the adult, you are the child, I am in charge and what I say stands. If a child wants to be in charge, they need to find someplace else to live... mine won't have to be emancipated, i'll take them down to the police station myself before any one of them think they can tell me what to do... so, it ain't the law, it jelly back adults who won't stand up to and for a child's best interest, because they don't yet know what their best interest is...

Re: When/if your parents disciplined you…

Sep 12, 2021, 9:50 AM

Disciplining him is one thing, telling the national media he isn't playing because he's acting like a child is something different. If Dabo cared whether he stayed or went he would have been far more diplomatic about why he isn't playing. Just say it's an "internal" issue or "team rules" violation. Throwing him under the bus with more information than was needed to answer the question leads me to believe they would be happy if he left.

Sep 12, 2021, 11:45 AM [ in reply to Re: When/if your parents disciplined you… ]

He already tried that and it sounds like maybe that didn’t get the desired results. Last week the position was exactly that - he violated team rules and that’s all that was said. Evidently Dabo feels the response from LJ so far hasn’t been appropriate. I was in a position of authority in manufacturing plants for many years. Discipline is intended to change behaviors. If that doesn’t work then more severe discipline occurs. It is up to the person being disciplined to react appropriately if they want to correct the issue.

New "good ol boy hire" ROOKIE running backs coach butts heads with our best RB. It's not bad enough for the player to be suspended from play. But it sure is enough for them to screw with his playing time.

This is just another issue on an offense that is drowning in issues this season. Y'all keep ignoring if you so wish. Sunshine pump until a dumb ### slip up against inferior competition takes us out of even playing for the ACC Championship (highly unlikely but plausible).

I’m surprised Dabo has called out his coaches, acted surprised about running game vs Georgia. Dabo has a blank check at Clemson, has hired at will - leave kids and their problems in house like always. Crap Fred Davis almost killed someone and we’ve not heard this kind of noise about him. Dabo said the same thing about BT Potter. Clearly he listened and the result speaks for itself. I’ve always admired Dabo because he doesn’t often publicly rebuke a player. Given that tendency, I have to trust the issues must be significant when he does. If people want him to run a program full of chaos, good
luck with that.

You’re a full time troll who invests untold hours in undermining everything about Clemson athletics. It should bother anyone using this site. I spend less than 20% of the time you do here. Every time I login your comments are there and always in the worst interests of Clemson. Beyond hating on Clemson you’ve also dabbled in sexism and racism. I would call someone like you out IRL so no reason not to do it here.

Your personal vendetta against me is based on your own delusions about who I am and what my objective is.

If you want a sunshine pumper who always agrees with everything a Clemson coach or player does, then that's not me. I love Clemson University and Clemson athletics, otherwise I wouldn't be here.

I'm going to voice my thoughts and opinions on Clemson topics here, because this is a place designed for that. If you don't always agree, that's okay.

But to accuse me of somehow undermining Clemson, not to mention calling me a racist and a sexist, is unfair. I'm not racist or sexist.

If you want to discuss Clemson sports with me, that would be great. But please stop the personal attacks. Everyone else here is laughing at you.

Maybe LJD sees the garbage playcalling TE churns out.

Maybe LJD has waited long enough to play and sees the SSDD from this offensive staff.

If he isn’t committing arson and cursing coaches wives, put him in. He’s the only chance we have at a run game this year against decent teams and he’s the best blocking RB by a mile for a pass defense that could use some help.

Maybe the coaches know more about running a team than we do. In my eyes some of the so called fans are the problem. Let the coaches do what they are paid to do. At least we don't lose to Jacksonville St. Quit acting spoiled and remember how it was before Dabo took over. Some of you need a serious reality check.

CJ was a bad hire and Tony Elliott’s tenure has been needlessly prolonged by excessive loyalty.

Dabo went out of his way to say the problem was between CJ and Dixon.

We are filling our staff with a ton of former players. With our budget and resources, I'm not sure this is the best option. Lyn-J , I'm not sure, but he has had no other issues in 4 years. I think CJ promised Shipley a lot and now Lyn-J has said something. Shipley may very well be the future, but personally I think that they are crapping on Lyn-J. I am 47 and have been a Tiger all my life and I do not like the things that I'm seeing around our program. Something is off and it's more than football. This staff has even caused some issues at Daniel high school. Flame away but it is all facts.

Talk to the people who have supported the Luons for years. They cannot wait for the coaches kids to graduate and move on.Nothing against the kids but the pressure to always play them is a lot on everyone. Not saying that those players are not talented but ... Look I dont have a dog in that fight, but I've been around a long time and Daniel doesn't have to wait for college coaches kids to win.

But apparently he's not. He could help us win but Dabo cares more about the person/ player than the wins and losses. He wants lynn j to learn life more than football. That's a good thing and why ultimately clemson attracts the best people to our program.

Sep 12, 2021, 8:13 AM

The facts are that we don't know what has gone on in the locker room or on the field between LJD and his coaches and teammates. I didn't hear anyone bitching about the culture each year we have been in the playoffs or won the Nattys.

Does anyone think Dabo would put up with CJ punishing LJD without good reason? I suspect Dabo's door is open to LJD. We don't know what has been going on, but I am pretty sure the coaches all want to win and put the best players on the field, but not at any cost.

CJ was a complete back?

Sep 12, 2021, 5:14 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Swinney explains why Lyn-J Dixon has had limited carries: "Needs to grow up" ]

I love what CJ did for Clemson, but by the definition of the RB position, James Davis was a far more complete back than CJ ever was. CJ needed space to use his speed, but could not get the tough yards up the middle to save his life. CJ alone made Spence’s bubble screens work perfectly, and teams couldn’t scheme to shut those down because of the threat of Davis actually running up the middle. CJ was a lot of freakishly athletic things, but a prototypical, complete RB wasn’t one of them.

Re: CJ was a complete back?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dude... the more complete back is CJ

Sep 17, 2021, 2:08 PM [ in reply to CJ was a complete back? ]

as evidenced by
College Football Hall of Fame induction
Numerous national awards and accolades (All American, Doak Walker finalist)
ACC OPY
ACC Championship Game MVP despite the loss
Earned a 1st round draft grade and pick
More receiving catches, yards and TDs
Soon to be inducted into the Ring of Honor

I see what you want to say, but it doesn't actually hold up against the reality. Loved JD and what he brought to Clemson, but CJ was a weapon as opposed to just a RB...
