Much like our coaching staff, I find that using

Sep 14, 2022, 3:09 PM

cooperative pronouns is a great ways to build leadership and trust within a project team at the office. For instance, It is far more effective to say, "We sure blew that deadline pretty good, didn't we?", than saying, "I blew that deadline pretty good, didn't I?"

Just this morning, I said, "We must have backed into the owner's car because I noticed that his bumper has fallen off." It is always better to stick together as a team, than to be selfish and take complete credit for your actions.

Does anyone else employ these tactics, or is it just me?

This reminded me of the zany word game, Mad Libs.

"I would like to punch you in the Larynx ."

I like to use you instead of we. Like you screwed up or it’s your fault I backed into your car or I didn’t finish early, you didn’t finish early enough etc

It’s helpful to use the “I feel…when you…I need” model.

Sep 14, 2022, 5:51 PM

Ex: “I feel amused when you look like a dopey Coot. I need more of that in my life.”

Ex: “I feel uncomfortable when you stare at me and laugh at your own jokes. I need you to hand me my McRib and let me drive away.”

When I get lost on the way to the thing and make us late, I got lost.

When my wife gets lost on the way to the thing and makes us late, we got lost.
