Xavier Thomas update No. 2

Ok, I told you Saturday evening that the Xavier Thomas injury wasn't season-ending and that he would be back sooner rather than later. I have a few more details I feel comfortable in passing along...
First off, I've been told he's in great spirits and ready to attack the rehab once he can begin. Surgery is today.
Now, a timeline for getting back? I am hearing four weeks at minimum, outside at six weeks. So that puts him back for the meat of ACC play, perhaps Wake Forest or NC State depending on rehab and how he feels. Wishing him the best of luck...I've been around the facility and I've seen how hard he works. After practice, when we are conducting interviews, he's in the weight room continuing to work out.

I just had surgery for in-grown big toenail. No fun when the doc sticks a needle in your toe to make it numb.

Good thing he has slimmed down. For little things on our body like toes, they sure have a lot of nerves in them. Not having that extra weight will make it easier for him to get back on it quicker.

I bet he'll be back for Wake, 3 weeks til the season then the first 3 weeks should all be no contest wins. He'll probably recover quickly and be back at practice Mid-Sept. Either way, the fact he'll be back at all is huge news. But still a concern with the amount of injury already this season, something needs to change wherever all this is happening on the practice fields.

Whew!!!! Even at 6 weeks or 7, just happy it doesn't sound more serious. Will pray for him. Good news is he's battered and battle tested for life mentally... Thanks in part to Dabo and our amazing staff. He'll have a great future and light years ahead of most his age. Go get em X.

Appreciate the update.
XT will still be good to go one way or another. His growth since coming to Clemson has been good to see. Most of it off the football field mind you. But, you can visibly see, Dabo gets a bit choked up when he talks about how much XT has grown up and taken accountability for his development as a person and player!
I still think he comes back with a great sense of urgency and has a phenomenal season!

I'm curious if 4-6 weeks is when he'll be able to contribute or when he's medically cleared to play. XT's conditioning has never been adequate, hard to believe that he won't need another 4+ weeks to get into enough shape to be a starter

I was told it was an injury to ‘pinky toe’ but I don’t have confirmation.
