The Blue Print

Sep 5, 2021, 3:13 PM

The blue print on how to beat Clemson has been floating around for a couple years now. Most don't have the talent to execute it. But those that do will continue to beat us until we make changes to our philosophy.

The defensive blue print is simple. Stop the run, and get pressure with 4. Drop the rest into quarters. Can't run, nowhere to pass. KB, TL and now DJU have all seen this. Yet we refuse to scheme against it. Maybe we can't bc of O-Line talent.

Offensive blue print is simple too. Just go fast. Can't get pre-snap calls in, poor communication and misalignments = mistakes. Luckily this year we're older in the front 7 and able to recognize alignments quicker.

If the O just continues to "do what Clemson does" and refuses to acknowledge a needed overhaul, this won't be the only loss this season.

This sounds doom and gloom, but it's not. Just an honest inward look. It can be fixed if they are willing to admit it needs to be changed. It's not a fit here or a MA there. It's a philosophy/ scheme change that's needed.

What defensively was exploited last night?

Several times last night there was a big opening in the secondary that the QB could have picked up big yardage if he ran. Until the coaches see that the offense we run will NOT work if there is NO threat of a QB run we will not be an offensive threat against good teams. DJ needs to be coached up, if he hasn’t already, to look for these openings and get the yardage the defense is giving him. There is no excuse for the way the Tigers played last night when they had the ball on the five yard line and failed to score. That ain’t Clemson football. If Dabo is afraid of DJ getting hurt, he needs to have someone played QB in the red zone. Shipley maybe!!!!

The excuse is that DJ played against a #1 defense, but he will have to learn to react to what ever a defense like that gives us, and I think that he will bc, he has owned it, and that's what enables someone to grow from their mistakes!!!

I’d say Georgia won in spite of JT Daniels. He averaged 4.5 yards an attempt which isn’t good. Clemson will not play a team as good as Georgia in the regular season but will face a couple better QB’s. Bama’s QB, Bryce Young, is on another level. Should be an interesting season.

I don’t disagree with anything that you said. Nevertheless, when you have the ball on the five yard line every defensive player except the down linemen are literally standing in the end zone. That makes throwing to an opening very difficult. Especially for a rookie QB. What ever happened to putting the big guys in and letting a 300 pound guy try to score? Jumbo package I think we once called it. Anyone remember “the Fridge” carrying the ball for the Bears.

no ATTEMPT at a running play from the five...

Sep 5, 2021, 6:25 PM

...no power, no misdirection, no QB sneak, no wildcat, no quick toss, no delayed handoff, no nothing resembling what could even be misconstrued as a running play...

put DJ under center and let him fall forward 3 times for a couple of yards each time...

What blue print is it talking about Blood, we lost bc of an Int, and Georgia didn't score anymore points against us as we did them, and their QB had had played about two full seasons, and ours only had two games under his belt. DJ will get better, and we will win out the rest of the season, I do believe that. That was game 1 against one of the most talented teams in college FB, and their offense didn't score anymore points than ours, and we played a true rookie QB!!!

But did you watch the game or just look at the stats and recap? We had no threat of rushing the ball and they sacked us 7 times. They missed one FG they could have made.

The eye test says UGA is far better than Clemson yesterday.

DJ looked horrible, but how much of that was the O-line and sacks? Who knows, it is a long season. Not sure how much better a bad O-line can get. I think we just do not have the personnel there.

Didn't Daniels come out in 2018? Is this not his 4th year or am i confusing things again?

Winning time of possession is also a big part of the blueprint. Keep offense off the field, run the defense out of gas.

I know most will question this and probably TD it but it's a true introspective look inwards. Good point. It does appear that the oline doesn't seem to grow and progress.

I tend to disagree with the defensive scheme you mentioned. True, we've had problems with it in the past but I honestly think that was more of a talent and depth issue.

I swear some of you are so whiney and ignorant, it's hilarious.
