I would prefer to scrap baseball and softball and put all of that to basketball. There are only two college sports that matter, football and basketball.

The return Clemson has received in funds given to basketball is very small. I would have no problem with scrapping basketball and giving that money to the other sports. I tune in to baseball and soccer if on tv or attend those games when I can but wouldn’t go to a basketball game if given court side seats. Last home home I went to Horace Grant was a freshman if that tells you anything. National championships matter no matter what sport and Clemson will never sniff one of those in basketball. Clemson basketball is to college basketball what South Carolina is to college football. It just is and has been ever since I have been watching. Quit watching basketball probably 4-5 years ago. My health just could not stand it anymore. Congrats on making the tourney but most realistic fans already knew how that would end.

We get more return on basketball than we get in any of those other sports though and there is potential for more too.

Seriously all the money they have put into Littlejohn alone. What return have we got? Basketball is a joke. Others are not money makers but they are very reputable in the ACC and nationally. I will take the return of Clemson’s reputation alone in these other sports over having Clemson’s reputation in basketball.

We get a return from just being in the ACC and how well everyone else usually does. There are tv contracts etc too. There is a lot of money floating out there in college basketball. Just last year alone March Madness generated over 1 billion dollars. I am not sure where that money is delegated, but when we get a bunch of teams in the tournament from the ACC it helps us. We aren't renovating arenas and paying Brad millions because we are losing money. We can do better, but there are only two cash cows in college sports and it's basketball and of course the real money make college football. Of course Clemson needs to do better, but we have had Littlejohn packed when we had the right teams. We would never give up college basketball. It's too big. It's part of the college experience to top it all off imo.

Yes I know they would never give it up. Just frustrating to have a team that most would say they have low expectations for. A few higher profiles recruits, occasional deeper runs in the tourneys would go a long way in changing the culture.

No! Clemson basketball is an oxymoron ... but it would be opposed by real morons like Catahoula, Carlsbad and Tigerbalm. They are the self-described geniuses of Tnet!

Yes. Love college basketball. We can be competitive. We spend enough money on baseball-and what we provide softball is not equal to baseball. $$$$ is not the answer. Coaches who love the game -!think it is fun AND who love kids and understand how to teach and motivate them - that’s the ticket. I would not interview for long a coach who wants to know “what’s in it for me and my staff”. Hire the guy who has a plan and a bit of history showing the plan works.
