Woody Hayes punched Charle Bauman at Gator Bowl n 1978. Woody ejected from the game. Later he fired.

Hay(es), that must have just gone over too many newbie heads! I remember seeing it live and saying "did Woody just do that!!??!" Couldn't believe a coach would actually hit an opposing player with his fist! Guess it was just time for Hayes to retire.

Announcers have really changed. Keith Jackson was announcing that game and he was afraid to even say anything about what happened- never mentioned Hayes hitting the kid. I never had much respect for him after that even tho he was a good announcer.

In fact a couple of years ago, maybe even the year we played Ohio State, he posted a fantastically hysterical comment/photo on facebook--see attached. I'm not 100% sure it was him but I'm 99% sure it was. The profile linked to someone who would have had to do a ton of spoofing to make it look like Bauman otherwise.

That being said, he tries really hard to keep a low profile in Ohio.
