through this new deal will the football players ultimately become paid employees of the Universities? I think for all intents and purposes they will be, so let's just stop being dishonest about the whole student-athlete label.

Pretty soon, there will be a push to allow these employees (“student-athletes”)

to forego attending classes. You know, because their sport takes so much time, we can’t have them being distracted by school work.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in the ruining of college athletics.

Why can’t they be students and still get paid?

I don’t see it any different than a student getting a part time job anywhere else on campus.

If you want to treat these players like students let’s treat the coaches like professors and pay them $150,000 a year.
