Depending on the situation, they don’t have to go anywhere. Entering the portal does not mean they have to leave their school.

There are currently over 1,000 players in the portal. The vast majority of them are there because they were, for whatever reason, unhappy about some aspect of the program where they previously played. That means they walked away from a full ride on the chance that some other school might pick them up. It appears that in many cases, that's not how it works out.

and, of course, FCS programs only get 63 scholarships and opposed to the 85 FBS programs have.

A lot of it certainly reeks of tampering.

I think we also have to keep in mind that this is new and the first time players have had any sort of control over their futures as a transfer. The landscape is quickly changing, and we can adapt or become a dinosaur. This will be a tough one for Dabo because of his mindset and eternal optimism.

It's hard to sell the future to a kid who's present is what he wants and there are people telling him what he wants to hear for a signature on an LOI
