We are covered up here. There’s going to be snow and ice on the ground for the better part of a week.

first time in my life I properly prepped for snow

and it turned out great.

I bought a 20lb bag of pool salt back one day at end of summer when I saw it on clearance. Salted all my steps and concrete walkways pre-storm. Stuff works.

Also saw a cheap snow shovel somewhere months ago for $10 so bought one. Had never owned a real snow shovel, always just used a flat shovel. Wow, what a difference with ease of use. Duh - last person on earth to find that out, I suppose.

With that combo, had zero issues with ice or any slipping. It's all clean as a whistle right now.

Only lost power for about 30 mins (well, so far), so that's been really nice also. Thanks (for once) Duke Power.

But I'm done with snow. It was different and nice for a day or so, but that's enough for this year. Now go away. Baseball season starts in 30 days.

had switched to winter mix for a while, now all snow. Got 7-8" so far, after sleet tamped it down. Hoping the winter mix will keep snow from drifting too bad tomorrow when the wind kicks in. West wind drifts snow right on top of my driveway, because it's cut into the hill across the wind. Wind blows the snow up the low side, snow fills in the cut of the driveway up to the other side.
