Eating suggestions for Cary/RAliegh

Gonna be in cary for a concert Saturday night. any good brew pubs or just fun places to eat in the area?

It is. I was going to suggest MacGregor Village. Lots of choices, from Jimmy V's (pricey steaks) to Tony's Oyster bar (seafood with a Cajun accent) to MacGregor Draft House (Bar food but good beer selection) to Wasabi (Sushi & Thai). I've eaten at all of them and recommend.

I really like his music. Saw him last year at the pour house on James island. Glad he is getting bigger.
So I think we settled on a Irish pub near the venue.
We wanted to go to dames chicken and waffles in Durham but it appears you need reservations and none available at the right time

Perhaps a little pricey, but Jimmy V's Steakhouse in Mac Gregor Village, Cary, right off Rt. 64 just west of Hwy 1, is simply superb. The staff is all you could want in service and friendliness. Now, this is an old school kinda' guys steakhouse, i.e.: the best cuts of beef, shrimp, scallops, salmon (the best food in general), good looking waitresses - everything that begs for top shelf scotch, bourbon and Cuban cigars. For what it's worth, this was Jim Valvano's favorite restaurant (hence the name, following his death); he lived in Mac Gregor Downs right across the road. Terrific bar.
Another option is Tony's Bourbon Street Oyster - terrific Cajun and seafood. Also a great pub. It's located immediately opposite Jimmy V's, not fifty feet door-to-door (+/-). I highly recommend either of these places. Mac Gregor Village is a shopping center not one mile west of Rt. 1 in Cary.

very nice upscale southern cuisine.
Also for more casual, Danny's Barbeque on the other side of the street is one of the few places in the area that does NOT marinate their pork in stew of vinegar and peppers ... just good old smoked meat with a variety of sauces to choose from.
Just down Tryon Road (across Highway US 1) is MacGregor Village where there are several good places, such as Jimmy V's, Tony's Oyster Bar, and MacGregor Ale House.
Just up the road at the corner of Tryon and Kildare Farm Road is Waverly Place Shopping Center with 4-5 different places to eat.
These are all within a block to a mile away from the entrance to the concert venue.

Carolina Ale House is a chain. I don't know why you'd want to go to a chain if visiting a new city. Angus barn, jimmy V, or The Pit all sound like great choices based on the rest of this thread.

...agree with ApexTiger to a point, but the MacGregor Ale House is just a loud noisy bar, and I personally prefer my Bar-BQ with vinegar and spices... Waverly Place is to be avoided, although there were a few good places there once upon-a-time (Ram's Head, Aspen Rock - both long gone) including a pretty good Greek restaurant on the lower level that may, or may not still be there (my memory on that place is 15 years ago.) However, venture into Waverly place at your own risk - you'll get lost in the parking lot, siriusly, you may spend your evening just trying to get out of it.
Of course I don't know, but if your concert is at Booth Amphitheatre on the lake (and it's a beautiful theater) the MacGregor Village stuff isn't five minutes away - including walking to/from your car. Honestly, treat your wife - and yourself - to Jimmy V's. A lovely lady named Cathy used to be the maître d'/manager (again, this was 6 years ago) and you can tell her a guy named Matthew from Spartanburg, SC (a friend of Josie Small) recommended you. I could send you to Bloomsbury Bistro in Five Points, Raleigh, but that's a bit of a complicated drive and distance from anywhere in Cary (even if it would be worth it!)
Bottom line - while you have some great options here, just have fun and enjoy the concert! Please post back on your experience, I'd love to hear it.

Yeah ... I'm really just giving him a few options that are close to where he's going to his concert (Koka Booth Amphitheater).
Waverly Place is indeed a convoluted mess to navigate, but there are a lot of new eating establishments there since it was overhauled and reopened.
A great choice is "Lucky 32" ... right in front of the entrance road to Koka Booth Regency Amphitheater.
There are certainly dozens of good places within a 20 mile radius. Especially if you like vinegar based BBQ, however, down Eastern NC BBQ is a taste I haven't acquired in the 16+ years we've been here

It's a wonderful sushi and burgers place. They have both deconstructed burgers served as sushi and deconstructed sushi served as burgers, as well as plenty of amazing, high quality junk Japanese and American foods. Also, it's owned by Rick Flair.

Lynn Wood Grille has it's on brewery and food is good
Angus Barn is good just expensive
Fox and Hound at North Hills is really good and so is Fire Birds
