Will NOT get the media coverage that it deserves...

Mario Goodrich’s story per Dabo’s postgame presser highlights why college athletics is the antithesis of what is happening now.
Mario Goodrich played an incredible game. Noted. However, it happened on a backdrop of years of development which makes it even more impressive. Goodrich came in as a highly touted recruit but immature player. That is OK. College sports are about developing young adults. This is part of the process. Goodrich took a couple of years to grow and develop into one of the most reliable players on the team and earned the respect of the team to become a voted captain. This shouldn’t be looked at as the exception, it is the rule. These are kids growing into young adults. That journey and trajectory landing with an awesome performance in what is likely his last game is fantastic and us fans will remember it. However, the development that happened during the journey transformed him into a young man that will have to tools to navigate life well-beyond football. Life is hard, and college sports is a fantastic opportunity to gain education and life skills to help these young people navigate the challenges that they’ll face.
Apologies for the rant. But in an age of NIL, transfer portal, and the need for immediate gratification... Mario Goodrich’s story is what a successful college athletic looks like. It is rare to be a TLaw that enrolls as a professionally minded young person. Happy for Mario last night and I hope it can serve as a candle in the dark for some of these kids that are struggling to stay the course in a developmental process.

Thanks!
NCAA - Not College Athletics Anymore.
Unfortunate truth. It has turned into a semi-pro league. I’m hoping stories like Goodrich can help ground some of these kids and help recenter views. However, the media loves this new landscape. There is constantly drama, there is no off-season anymore, everything is amplified eg Travis Hunter committing to some no name school, etc.
