Will Ngata be a TE or WR?

Jul 29, 2018, 3:15 PM

He looks like a guy that will maybe be 235 lbs or so by the time his frame completely fills out. He's also probably one of the most physical guys we've recruited at WR that I've seen on tape. His blocking looks like it has some nastiness to it that you just can't teach. I wouldn't be shocked if he starts off at WR, but year 2 or 3 they convert him to TE.

I don’t really see him becoming a TE, I think he is the perfect fit size and physical wise for the 9 man outside WR, like Mike Williams. He is 6’ 3” 210 now he might add a inch or two by the time he’s done growing. Having him in our strength program and at 220 and stronger would be perfect, with him being so physical and ability to high point will make him a dominate wr and will say now he will play on sundays. Huuuuuge commit and his brother is looks pretty darn good at rb In the 2020 class ( haven’t offered and don’t know if he is on our boards), also his brother plays at Washington so it’s def In their genes haha. Go Tigers!!!

If our nutrition people can't keep his weight around 215 it's a possibility. He has the athleticism to be a WR at 210, adding a little weight won't hurt him.

We have other TEs on campus and I'm pretty sure the coaches have him on the WR board.. the only way I see him moving to TE is if his weight gets out of control.

I don't think 235 is big enough to be an effective blocking TE anyway. Need to pack more ### than that to block a DE. More like 250-260.

Maybe he would be like Shannon Sharpe.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's good to have a dominant blocker out wide

Jul 29, 2018, 3:47 PM

Our WRs couldn't block anyone last year.

No way

Jul 29, 2018, 4:01 PM

That dude is a WR through and through. And with Galloway and Lay either on campus or incoming, the TE position is covered. Ngata will be a go up and get it WR who’s strong and can block. There’s always a place for that.

He has some traits that remind me a lot of Julio Jones at that age. He's not same level of freaky athlete, Julio Jones was a top 5 recruit, but some of the way he plays and the body type is reminiscent.

I don't know why but his game kinda reminds me of Terrell Owens.

I hope you are kidding...

A tall, fast, physical boundary WR sounds like someone

who could challenge Nuk for the season receiving TD record (18), though via different styles. We've got some dudes on the vine in the TE department.
