I would like some accountability too LeBron. How about King James says I jumped the gun. I was wrong to say you're next referring to the cop placed in an untenable position. Had the cop delayed even a second or two more, the defenseless also black woman would have been injured and perhaps killed by the "child" wielding a knife.

What would the narrative have been then? Perhaps white cop stands by while a black woman is slain before his eyes. Perhaps it would have been said that if the potential victim were white, he would have intervened.

The cop was placed in a no win situation. LeBron should be accountable and apologize to the cop for his comments and to America in general as he needlessly stirred up an already hot situation.

an area(s), with the predictable results, or an officer stands by and watches someone assault someone else. Provide police service to whites and white areas, let others live as they like.

Wait, we tried that. 'Community organizers' hit the ceiling - as maybe they should have - because it is racist to turn black neighborhood over to the drug dealers. The Clinton admin then pushed through drug policies that ended up putting a generation of black males in jail: that is not a political comment, just saying when it happened. So, that is now called 'mass incarceration'. Weed offenders actually shouldn't be behind bars. But its not all weed offenders.

And maybe no drug offenders should be behind bars: we know the arguments for that. But then we circle back - been looking for a reason to say that - to "you're letting our kids die".

The common denominator in all that is the automatic reaction that it's someone else's fault. A 14 year old girl buys fentanyl on a street corner, and once that happens the options are few: we incarcerate everyone in sight, or we pick and choose who to incarcerate, or we let them go, and no matter the choice the reaction is 'racism'.

So then we try to get to the root of the problem, and the knee jerk cause is "poverty", because that can be blamed, rightly or wrongly, on racism. But the facts are that if a person:
1. Graduates high school
2. Waits to 21 to get married or have kids
3. Has any job....

...the chances of attainting middle class is about 80%. Race is not a factor in that stat.

But no one wants to accept that, because it places responsibility back to the community/culture and person. I will readily agree that we have institutionalized an underclass that is turning out dependent people, and that a fix is needed, and that it will be difficult. But to those who think everything is down to race and partisan politics, which today is the same thing, what is the answer?

the flat out refusal to accept any whatsoever, and instead being encouraged at every turn to blame somebody else. It's easy now when you're served up a boogeyman by politicians, the media and the educational system. By no means am I suggesting that racism is not a very real problem, or that racism did not create or contribute to many of the problems faced by black people in America; it did. We need to have an honest, reasonable conversation about race and racism in this country to come up with real, workable solutions. Unfortunately, that is not happening, and is flat out impossible in today's toxic, hate and lie-filled environment. Still, that fight must go on, no matter what. There are huge, very real problems in the black community that, while in some ways are related to racism, are actually separate problems, have separate causes, and separate solutions that don't require eliminating racism. That needs to be the approach, but there is no money in that for politicians, race hustlers, or a news media driven by clicks and views. Stay in school, obey the law, don't have children out of wedlock, and accept personal responsibility for your own life. Do those things and lives and communities will transform much quicker, much more profoundly than waiting on politicians or anybody else to bring about "social justice". It doesn't matter who is president, or what color anybody's skin is; if black lives really matter, it can start there, and it can start today.

According to his Bio, he grew up in Compton, went to Columbia, and played ten years in the NFL. I can see why he thinks there is value in telling the positive stories and not just telling everyone that they are in a hopeless situation in a racist country.

As others have said, it would be nice to see LeBron publicly apologize for his horrible comments, but at the end of the day, he doesn’t need to and he’ll keep printing money and receive adoration, so he won’t.
