OC's or DC's, who does better as a HC

Jun 23, 2014, 9:43 PM

Just was wondering who does better when promoted on the D1 level from a coordinator to a Head Coach? I can think of several examples of both types doing well and both types doing poorly.

My opinion...OC's make better Head Coaches than DC's. But hey, I love our receivers coach

What say you posters

Saban was a DC at some point and he has done pretty well.

Pete Carroll was a DC. Actually both of those guys were DB specialist so maybe DB coaches turn out to be great head coaches.

But I like the previous post about a couple of OL coaches as well.

Interesting question for Clemson fans.

I guess Dabo would most likely lean toward being an OC. I don't think it matters, though. Dabo is a natural HC. He is a CEO, and a really good one at that. I honestly believe he could run General Motors given half a chance. He runs the ship and he does it like nobody else. Are we going down if we lose Morris or Venables? Not IMO. Dabo will make sure we are well coached. He knows how to run an organization. THAT is what makes a good HC.

Well stated... Totally agree, even about the GM thing. +1.***

I think DCs do. Wasn't Saban a DC before becoming a HC?***
