India Arie, a black artist, is calling for Joe Rogan to be removed from Spotify because for recently surfaced clips of him using the n-word. Rogan says that the clips were taken out of context - that he was quoting other people who had used the n-word and the clip in question is just a compilation of him saying "n" with zero context. One of his arguments is that you need context - that it matters. I would agree, but most on the left would say that context is irrelevant. The word should never be uttered. Meanwhile, Spotify has hundreds, probably thousands, of rap and hip hop acts that use the n-word indiscriminately and with no repercussions. Why, because.... context. If it's black folks saying it, um, in context, then it's ok. But if it's anyone else, then it's wrong. If we removed ALL the artists - black or otherwise - who used the n-word in their podcasts or recordings (can't call some of them "songs") then the rap playlists would be decimated and hip hop would see a lot less quantity. Craziness.
Kudos to Spotify for not giving in and canceling Joe. Not yet, anyway.

Spotify will eventually give in. The Dems in Congress are already working on some absurd bill that will cost Spotify billions. It will never make it into law, but will be enough to scare them into canceling Rogan (a Bernie supporter by the way).
There is no end in their insatiable lust for power.

Exactly. He state that he always felt that context matters and that he didn't realize as a white dude he isn't allowed to even use the word in context. He said, now he knows. Should be case closed. I don't know why anyone is complaining.

I guess, but his schtick is about what is right and wrong and no PC bull. I am with him. I think context matters. He is only apologizing to make others happy.
