Why we deserve a crappy BBall team..

after the miserable shyatt era we went out and hired Oliver Purnell. THe first few seasons were rought but steadily improved in the win column year to year. After a few years in Purnell turned Clemson into a consistent top 3-4 acc team which is unheard of for Clemson. We beat some big names like Cincinatti, Syracuse, Butler, etc. We massacred duke at home blowing them out to the tune of 30+ points. We made 3 strait Ncaa tourneys! and yes we did lose in the first round those three years but the fact that we made it is huge in the realm of things. But that wasn't good enough for some of the whiny Clemson fans. After the third loss in the first round Clemson fans especially on tnet were outraged. They called for purnell to quit, some even questioned why his wife did not leave him (don't believe search the boards) Earlier in Purnells last year fans at littlejohn were booing Milton Jennings which is just a plain embarrassment and struck a nerve with Oliver Purnell. Our administration did little to improve our bball program while purnell was here. We had a scheme that worked here and kept us competitive against anyone we played. Then due to lack of support and unrealistic fans Purnell left Clemson. Many say Purnell left us in disarray although, Brownells best season was with purnells players. Now we sit here as one of the worst teams in the acc with no hope of improvement in site. The games are unbearable to watch and our scheme is a joke. We have no talent whatsoever especially on offense except for mcdaniels. Players are dying to get out of this dumpster fire ie: dante hill, noel Johnson, devin coleman, even the recruit brad brought when he got here transferred. Now we are talking about a new arena for Brownell? why not 4 years ago when we were relevant? Some fans are too dumb to realize how good we had it with Purnell and if he had the support I feel he would still be here

and posted back when OP left that it was gonna be horrible for Clemson bball. Of course I was flamed for it probably by the same idiots that bitched and moaned when OP was here saying he had "taken us as far as he could."

Honestly, I do feel like he reached the peak of what he could do here. I appreciated all he did and would've loved for him to stay, but I also looked at the positive that if we get the right coach, he could build on that. We didn't get the right coach. We regressed severely during Brad's time, and now the progress that we are making is not impressive because we're behind where we were with OP. I don't know if the answer is ride Brad out a few years or cut him loose and start over. Regardless, 1 and done with OP looks more appealing than it ever has

Let's parse this out:
"Now we sit here as one of the worst teams in the acc..."
Is that true? I suppose it's true if you were to divide up the conference and say that the every team in the bottom half is "one of the worst teams in the acc," but I don't really think it's true if we're saying that Clemson is one of the worst 3-4 teams in the league. We're clearly better than BC, VT, and Miami, and I think we're competitive with GT, Maryland, ND, and FSU (even though we stunk it up against them last night). That doesn't tell me that we're clearly "one of the worst."
"... with no hope of improvement in site [sic]."
This is just flat out, obviously, wrong. Clemson has improved from last year to this year, and a number of young players are showing promise. This team has also built some quality young depth. What's more, we've got a pretty dynamite couple of players coming in next year with Grantham (a SF who can score) and Devoe (a big SG who can REALLY score). As far as I can tell, the future of Clemson basketball is bright.
"The games are unbearable to watch and our scheme is a joke."
Good gosh. No. The games might not be full of scoring like an NBA game (which, in my opinion is unbearable to watch because of the lack of defense), but they're fun to watch because they're usually close. At any rate, calling our scheme a "joke" is silly. Brownell is a highly respected coach that has taken a bunch of young guys and made them competitive with... his scheme.
"We have no talent whatsoever especially on offense except for mcdaniels."
I will admit that we don't have a ton of scorers, but I'd hardly say that Blossomgame, Roper, Harrison, and Hall lack any "talent whatsoever."
"Players are dying to get out of this dumpster fire ie: dante hill, noel Johnson, devin coleman, even the recruit brad brought when he got here transferred."
First of all, Noel Johnson left because the coach that recruited him left. Then he never really played wherever he was recruited. The other guys you mentioned left because they weren't going to get playing time.
"Some fans are too dumb to realize how good we had it with Purnell and if he had the support I feel he would still be here."
This, I agree with. However, I don't think the fact that we had it good with Purnell means that we don't have it pretty good with Brownell. You need to take another look at the improvement of this team over the last couple of years and at the guys we currently have, and you need to be a little more aware of who we're bringing in.

People also have to realize that the top recruit for last year and this year both did not get to play due to injury. Where might we be if Blossomgame had played last year and Rooks was playing this year? Despite that, I think we can have a decent season.

Disagree Completely
We are nowhere close to ND, or MD, Miami beat UNC in their own building, we couldn't score 42 points against FSU (a team with multiple tourney appearances and that has beaten VCU this year)
Clemson has improved from last year to this year In a few cases possibly. Filer has regressed, Harrison has regressed, Roper has a lower scoring average I believe. OK Hall is better this uear
"The games are unbearable to watch and our scheme is a joke." Dude we scored 41 points last night. How was that even remotely close to bearable? We literally watch and laugh at ourselves as we play with the 10 second line. Watch how many times the ball crosses half court before the shot clock hits 28, and then tell me that's enjoyable
"Players are dying to get out of this dumpster fire ie: dante hill, noel Johnson, devin coleman, even the recruit brad brought when he got here
they sure are. Sorry, but who in the world with talent would want to play for this? The most you will get is 4 shots a game.

what was coming. It's going to take a while to get some decent players into the program.
But, yea, Brownell has been terrible here. Every year removed from the OP era it gets worse and worse.
