I know there’s a lot of critics amongst our fan base that thinks he was scared of Dean Smith and Coach K. Neither will be in the ACC next year so why not?

LOL. He is not leaving Tennessee for that. Thinks it's a better job. I remember when he came back to Clemson for an exhibition game his first year at Tennessee and said that he knows how tough a job Clemson is and Brad was doing a good job.

I remember that as well. A lot has changed since then. The ACC is mediocre at best and he would instantly be the best coach in the league.

season. That is the amount of respect that the ACC had back then. No such luck now. It would require 20 wins, and none of those "bad" losses. Everything is done by "metrics" now.
Plus, back then Barnes was a young up and comer coach trying to build his reputation. I just don't think that same competitive fire still burns in him. Having to navigate the Texas oil minefield for all those years took a lot out of him, I think.
I would still take the current Rick Barnes in a heartbeat over ANY iteration of Brad Brownell.

He's too old now, get someone younger that can breath some life and hope into the program. The fans are there, they already own Clemson gear and love Clemson. We need someone to get us excited about the direction of the program.
