Why only 3 star?

Why is Keith Maguire only a 3 star? He has 21 offers including Bama, Ohio st, Notre Dame, etc. A lot of 4 stars don’t have offers like that.

David Hood told me that's why Josh Belk was only rated a consensus 3-star until he dominated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl (then he picked up some 5-star ratings).

He was at the NJ Nike camp. This is one of his reviews from a 247 mod at the camp.
2019 LB Keith Maguire-He was smaller than I thought he would be and didn't flash much during the day. His top schools are Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame, but not sure any/all would take him right now--I think OSU is definitely trying to hold him off. Thought he was a nice player, not a must get, and can see why schools want to wait and see how things go with some higher targets.
He also ran a 4.90 which I was shocked. Still a good player that Coach V should be able to develop nicely. Doubt he makes it to 4* status but maybe.

Belk was a high 4 star top 150 player on 247 and espn when he committed to us in Jan 2017, long before he was in the all American bowl.

The so-called experts are concerned only with measurables and a limited eye test. They can't measure heart, attitude, character and those other attributes that equate to one or additional stars. Dabo and staff prove they are better evaluators of talent and the intangibles than the experts.

Doesn’t matter now that he is committed because that means he is good enough.
But for prospects it really does matter. Look at QB. TL, DW4, HJ were 5 stars on rivals, CB a high 4 star ranked in the 80s somewhere, KB, ZC, Bentley boy were low four stars ranked around 220-250, and Cole Stout a 3 star... I’ll take the first group of QBs every time.

I'll take the "rating" of Dabo and Saban, et al, over ESPN or Rivals or whatever.
