Why is it the default assumption that a decommitment
Oct 13, 2022, 10:25 AM

from Clemson has to be due to money or someone cheating?
Why can’t a recruit choose another school because he likes it more or thinks it’s a better situation for him?

Because that doesn't fit the narrative and isn't as salacious

Great question. Lord some folks on this board are critical, demeaning and forgetful about being young. Pleasantly surprised how many people on previous post checked the person who wishes he fails. Let the process play out.

The same assumption that pops up every time we make a bad play or heaven forbid, lose. The world revolves around things always being someone's fault when they go wrong. Sad way to live.

the young man specifically said that it was a "financial decision".
Maybe he found a briefcase full of cash on his way to Tallahassee and viewed it as a omen.

Or maybe he feels that his path to the NFL is easier at FSU.

Or maybe a relative lives near Tallahassee and offered to let him live with them.
We don’t know, so it’s probably best not to cast him or FSU as doing something illegal or underhanded.

And nobody said anybody did anything illegal or underhanded because there is no such thing in college football any more.

Because it's been reported by several outlets, and commented on by the recruit himself, that the driver is financial/NIL.

What if he knew that CU was getting other OLs and was looking for a place where there would be a clearer path to playing time?

Because Owens literally said FSU was giving him more money. Why is this so hard for people to comprehend? The game we all love is not pure. It’s time to accept it.

Mainly because of CDS’ emphasis on what a “commitment”…
Oct 13, 2022, 10:47 AM
|
|
…to the Clemson football program means, i.e., COMMITMENT.
From what I have heard CDS actually encourages a recruit to NOT commit to Clemson unless he is ABSOLUTELY SURE, and that commitment GOES BOTH WAYS from Clemson’s perspective, that that position the recruit is filling is not going to be “over recruited” by Clemson.
Yet, this is what happens. So, no, a DE-COMMITMENT from a Clemson COMMITMENT means that something else other than a casual, “hey, I’m thinking that I’m liking the on-campus Chick-fil-A better than listening to Thomas Austin for the next 4 years.”

It’s a reasonable question. It should not be the default assumption. In fact, it is NOT the default assumption for many of us. If you read the TCI article…it appears the family is moving to the Tallahassee area.

She can't resist when she senses blood in the water on the football side. She's been having quite the feeding frenzy this year - from recruiting (prior to summer), to low transfer portal use and Dabo's stubbornness, to revamping S&C due to camp injuries, to our historic run having ended, to all the assistants with Clemson ties and being unqualified, to DJ being the wrong type of QB to recruit, to Streeter having no credentials, to Wes not having the goods, throw some Cade bashing in - now fan bashing over a decommit.
This Tater hater has covered a lot of ground. Not exactly who you want watching your back in the face of adversity.
Go Tigers.
