Why I trust the special teams will be fixed

Aug 2, 2016, 8:13 AM

It doesn't seem like it was very long ago we were never settled at QB. Proctor, Korn, Boyd, you name them, we tried them and many were good, but not great. Now we have Deshaun, Cooper in the wings, Hunter coming in, so seems to be fixed. Our O line was a problem as we got some of the above names, and others, half killed through the years. Now I see publications naming our O line number 1 or 2 in the country - seems to also be fixed.

Even in coaching, looking at you Billy Napier and Rob Spence, when something wasn't working Dabo fixed it.

I don't know if the special teams will be 100% fixed this year but I expect to see improvement and I trust Coach to get it fixed.

Spot the ball.

I read somewhere that they have gone to the extent of bringing in special teams consultants over the offseason. If its not fixed, its certainly not because they didn't recognize it as a problem.

Yeah, it's called Mickey Conn and Kyle Richardson. Are people not noticing that their teams they coached in high school has really good special teams play? They can't coach the players, but they can give ideas/pointers to the coaches that do.

You wouldn't call Tajh Boyd great? That's interesting. He rewrote the Clemson and ACC record books. There's only one QB better in school history in my opinion, and that's #4.

I call him the beginning of the great QBs

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Tajh Boyd. Boyd, Whitehurst and Woody are 3 of my tops. Just meant it was always sporadic. We didn't have a legacy of great QB play, or recruiting.

Fair enough. He started this whole thing, Tajh was the leader of the team when we started this 10+ win stretch and he was sporadic at times. Him never beating USC will hurt his legacy some. I see what you're saying though. Went from "hopefully Tajh will win the job" his sophomore year and now looking ahead to 2017 we will have a 5-star freshman Johnson, 4-star freshman Brice, 4 star RS freshman Cooper, 4-star junior Bryant, and 3-star RS sophomore Israel all fighting to win the starting job. Definitely a good spot to be in.
