theyve owned all 3 branches under obama and biden.

This 1 thing is like their top priority in every election.

I think they have tried in the past, as have republicans tried to pass constitutional amendments to ban it.

Even so, while both sides have used it to make political hay, most probably thought Roe was well established and in little/no danger of being overturned. Although not a dem, I was firmly in that camp…an opinion that now seems exceedingly naive.

I also used to think that worst case…even if Roe were returned to the states, surely state governments wouldn’t adopt total bans and/or such draconian measures….again, boy was I wrong.

The biggest mistake I have made is underestimating the hold evangelicals have over the party. It’s the main reason I left the party, but I never thought they would get caught up in this level of fanaticism. I guess if people tell you who they are, you had better believe them.

It either won't be extreme enough to appease progressives, or it will be far too extreme for moderate Dems in purple districts. The best thing Dems had going for them on abortion was plausible deniability on the specifics of the abortion position thanks to Roe, but now Schumer wants to put them on the record for what ultimately is symbolic grandstanding.

Dems, and Biden in particular, have not gotten nearly enough h3ll on their failure to move the needle on pot AT ALL since assuming control. Given that busts for simple possession is a gateway for a lifetime of social injustice, the lack of pressure/outrage from the Left is ### near unforgivable -- especially given the destruction caused (ostensibly) in the name of this injustice following George Floyd's death.
