You don't often get dunks by taking it strong to the cup, you get dunks on putbacks, breaks and backdoors. We really only have PJ and Middlebrooks who play inside. Tyson is a pure wing shooter and I don't know what Shef is.

PJ and Middlebrooks both had opportunities at the rim yesterday where they finished very tentatively and missed the shots. They made some too but they do seem to not be going up really strong.

Don't know the hall one you are talking about.
The middlebrooks miss was one where he got caught between a dunk and a layup. He HAS to get better at finishing at the rim.

Because they need the momentum? Dunking flat-footed is not

… something every tall guy can do in a game while another tall guy is guarding him.
It’s know as the “Woody Harrelson” effect.

Good question. I would think it's a mentality you have to have. In my opinion, if you're 6'5 or better you should have bad intentions when getting the ball on the block. You take it strong to the rim, more times than not, you're going to get fouled. Middlebrooks had 1 yesterday, and really c hunter had a couple that he could have went up strong instead of trying a circus shot. All that being said, yesterdays game was lost due to defense. I hope this week off recharges the guys for this final stretch.

Ever had that went up strong and dunked it as the routine under the basket shot. Why that is…I have no clue. We’ve had 7 footers that could barely dunk… guess it’s a Clemson thing.

It is a Brad recruiting thing. He chooses outside vs inside. Thru the years we have had many dunkers. When I was in school, Larry Nance, Horace Wyatt, and thru the years, Dale Davis, Grant, Booker, etc etc. back before Brad we played inside out. They developed inside players - and lots of dunks, strong inside play. Could not shoot a free throw, but sure could dunk. To me- that is where I would change philosophy- inside game, like defense - travels. Outside shooting - can go cold and when we lose, we have big gaps of missed outside shots. We also struggle with well balanced teams.

In general, I blame it on recruiting and development. I am not trying to start a war. Brownell generally does not recruit inside guys (review the 12 + years). Then list all the inside guys we could count on and developed. Since we got PJ- it has really freed up our outside game. Ben has been a nice addition. That said, Brownell has typically recruited undersized 2,3,4 and generally we have played with a small center. (Like Aamir). The dunkers are usually a 3,4 who is athletic. Think back to the number of dunks when OP was coach. Before the BB defenders jump all over me - I am not comparing OP vs Brad. Simply pointing out athletes vs shooters in philosophy. JMO anyway.
