You can blame on the defense all you want but we had the ball as many times as they did. We just didn't do anything with it. Our offense goes in a black hole against a very good defense(Fla S and SC).

My point is..
Dec 1, 2012, 10:54 AM
|
|
.. that if we didn't let them have SIX DRIVES OF OVER EIGHT PLAYS chewing up ALL KINDS OF TIME we would have had many many more chances for our offense to be on the field to actually do something. You can check the box score of the game on ESPN and they break down every drive for you to analyze.
So, basically "you can blame on the OFFENSE all you want" but our defense let them have SIX DRIVES OF OVER EIGHT PLAYS. That's not gonna win most games regardless of how potent an offense has the potential to be or how many times we held them to field goals.

do you know we lost top to maryland and other teams?

we play small ball and it gets even smaller to the point it disappears when the lights are on.
we are an offensive team designed to dominate the ball with multiple formations, skill to thrill in space and rhythmic hunh to wear the opposing ds down, not allow them subs.
i say we missed the mark for the most important 5 quarters this year.

Maybe the problem IS that we're in the ACC
Dec 1, 2012, 11:07 AM

& have a schedule nearly full of teams that have very little chance to stop us; then we play 1-3 top notch programs and our offense goes into shock n' becomes a non-factor for large portions of games.

in the acc, lack of it didn't help.
i like morris as a football guy. he talks about stressing the players in practice, but also says there's a lack of competition at some positions, which makes it difficult to get better.
if you don't get it on saturday, you need it every other day worrying about your job.
i think it's fair to say you can't deal with adversity when you've had little practice with it.

Spurrier knew exactly what he had to do n' executed his game plan to near perfection. I am very very excited that Dabo has proven that he is at least on the same wavelength as to getting over that hump and becoming a great coach.
I'm honestly quite surprised to see you almost rave about Morris after your initial post.

what i wrote.
our offense did absolutely nothing to help our defense.
when you have the ball, you need to take advantage and we didn't now did we?
blaming the D for all the 3 and outs[and so much more] is pretty laughable.

Our defense gave up 6 DRIVES OF OVER 8 PLAYS.

If that's not obvious to you as to why I'm blaming the defense more then I suggest you listen to Dabo's post-game speech so he can let that sink in more because obviously I'm not getting through to YOU.

Because Sammy didn't want any part of what they were dishing out! Against physical defenses, he turns from a Tiger into a "puddytat." (see stats v. FSU and SC last 2 years)

His stats were not huge against either team but he was a huge part of our gameplan against FSU both years and a big part of why we beat them last year and why we scored 37 on them this year. He was injured last year agains SC and was not targeted or given the ball but a few times this year. It is the OC's job to put the ball in the playmakers hands and he did not do that against SC

Speaking of Sammy, where was he? I watched the game again and noticed he was taking a lot of plays off. And Tajh didn't look anywhere but his primary receiver. Of course he's been doing that all year.

You don't throw for 3500 yards and 35+ TDs without looking over your second and third options.
I think there was not jet sweep because Carolina was playing up on it. Which is why that second TD to Nuk worked so well. I was expecting more play fakes. But the D line woke up.
