Why Clemson is so special to me , and 11-24-12 is too

Saturday night of Nov. 19, 2005 I called my father to discuss the Clemson/ South Carolina loss (9-13) and discovered that my mother was in declining health (hospice).
I jumped in the car and drove from Houston to Greer right then . I think she recognized me when I got there Sunday afternoon
She was such a TIGER, I get my love of Tiger Band and all the gameday festivities from her, the socialization of the day was, to her, bigger than the game.
Margaret Lawrence Boyd passed in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving day. I really did not know how to take it .
When the sun came up that morning I drove to Clemson. I parked at Tillman and walked around campus a while . I wound up at the HILL. I was all alone , not a soul in sight. I looked out with my face pressed against the wrought iron fence looking over Howard's Rock and in the direction of her seat in the south stands.
All of a sudden a peace, a calm came over me . It is hard for me to explain to you. But at that moment I was at peace.
I have been back for many games and spring games but never to a South Carolina game.
Let's win one in memory of MLB on 11-24-12 !!!!
There IS something in those hills !!

My Dad took me to my first game at the age of six. With the exception of my fours years at Clemson, I've continued to attend and enjoy every game with my father. He'll be 83 this week. I can't think of a better present for your Mom and my Dad than a victory on 11/24.

she could charm the socks off a Dawg OR a Gamecock . It really is just a game and the human factor always should be in the front of our minds. Everyone on the field is the son of a fellow human being .
I guess what I am saying, what she always said is "Rise above"

Wow! Felt the same way when I took my mom back to her first game after my father died. He was a1949 graduate and a member of the board of visitors for 6 years. I got out in 82. Neither of us could get through the alma mater. Tears were streaming down our faces and we were surrounded by 80,000 of our closest friends. Something special in those hills amen!

90 wow! Great for him. Remember tailgating with my parents and they fed us well. Have 2 kids at Clemson now and i think I cooked for 14 kids after the game Saturday. Just passing on the great tradition. very blessed to be honest. Mom had her aortic valve repaired 6 weeks ago so she has to wait til next year to go with s! GoTigers and our families
