Why aren't Clemson Fans more excited?
Nov 11, 2013, 3:29 PM
|

Thursday night home game. ESPN national TV. BCS #8, with a chance to rise higher. Realistic shot at the Orange Bowl - if you keep winning. Crossover rival in town who has given you trouble (and beaten you 5 of the last 7 times you've played)... TIGER NATION SHOULD BE STOKED!!!
So why does this feel like just another week? Don't look now, but Va Tech just beat Miami and will be heavy favorites in the last 2 games. Miami may not lose again this year either - especially if they avoid the ACC CG. If Clemson does NOT win out, the Orange Bowl might select Miami or even VT. So what's the deal, Tiger fans? Am I right - are you guys taking this game too lightly?

Because our fans have fallen into the same trap as our players do every ***** year. Think all we have to do is mail it in and we have already beaten GT and USuck. A recurring problem and a recipe for disaster.

The word you're looking for is "prescient", and I'm not sure
Nov 11, 2013, 3:56 PM
|
|
you know the meaning of the word.
What gave you away is your 29% pulse. Your always negative (that's not objective by the way) posts against Clemson, Dabo, Tajh, and admitting you're not wearing orange "because you're embarrassed".
You're a pathetic excuse for a Clemson fan if you think you're one.

it's taking a matchup that wouldn't typically get attention and making them "THE GAME" on a day where nobody of note is playing........good publicity
now, you don't want Thursday night games every week, but I see no problem in getting some extra publicity on a game that wouldn't get that much if it was on saturday competing w/ many other games.

and doing out part to help the league fulfill its contractual obligations to E$ecPN. The problem I have is playing at home on a Thursday night. It lessens our home field advantage.

I think our THURSDAY night home atmosphere will be as good or better than a 12 or 330 saturday kickoff

It sounds great, but the numbers tell a different story. TV ratings are typically the 6th or worst game of the weekend, and equivalent to a noon ESPN game.
Also, think of the 20k+ fans and 30+ recruits who are not able to attend tonight's game and think how much it could help.

VT is not going to the Orange bowl

Unless they make it to, and win, the ACCG.
You're not going at 9-3 with losses to Duke and BC. You're not going at 9-4 with a loss to FSU in the ACCCG.
If we lose another game we are probably not going, a very close loss to USC (perish the thought) leaves the door cracked a bit for a bid, but I'd seriously doubt it.
But in the end VT's only route to a BCS bowl is to make it to, and win, the ACCCG.

Which means if they play FSU , FSU has a 136.25% chance of winning ( Lightbulbbill math and I checked his math)

I think the string of sellouts shows that Hokies can get "up" for every game on the schedule most years. Of course we get up for Ga Tech - it's been us or them in the ACC CG every year. A fairer comparison is probably our crossover, BC, but the Mattie Ice game a few years ago in Blacksburg (plus the loss this year in Chestnut Hill) will keep that game in the minds of Hokie fans next season, IMO.

Did you get excited to lose to Dook at home in front of your standing only crowd of 58,000 people doing the hokie pokie?
Now think about this. If losing to Boston College 2 years in a row is what is going to be on your mind until next year and next year 18 foot 19 inch tall Logan Thomas will be playing tight end in the NFL, you might have some deeper problems. BC is a hockey school

everyone in my family who went to college went to Clemson except me... so, yeah, I AM interested in Clemson football. Plus, I live in Upstate SC, so it's either Clemson or S Carolina - to me that's a pretty easy choice.

In days of yore there were some givens about football
Nov 12, 2013, 8:03 AM
|
|
and how it relates to Christmas that hold to this very day:
Prior to the season the masses are filled with wonder, awe and expectations.
Early on into the season, chatter abounds about how the season may end.
As the latter part arrives, some of the excitement turns into mortal dread that the "gifts" may not live up to expectations.
And as the season ends, some are overjoyed; some are lukewarm; the rest are sorely disappointed.
I suspect, therefore, that some Clemson folks have grown a little weary of all the hoopla, are a little nervous as the end of the season approaches and hope and pray they receive most of what they wanted to begin with.
Still most remain enthusiastic, choosing to be optimistic about the outcome...especially when they expect to receive that shiny, new bike...in the form of one gigantic victory over the Chickens! But we do realize we have to get past the neckties and underwear first, which, of course, aren't quite as appealing....lol
GO TIGERS!!!!BEAT THE NECKTIES...AND UNDERWEAR!!!!
THEN...ON TO THE BIKES!!!!

You have no idea what you're talking about. Sounds to me like you have only had a couple encounters with the few Clemson "fans" who are dumb enough to go and voice all their nit-picky concerns on TigerNet. Thursday night games are a regular tradition at Va Tech, but not here. Much of our fanbase travels from Atlanta, Charleston, Raleigh, and the surrounding states, which makes it hard for fans to come during the week because of work. You're not even a Clemson fan....how would you possibly know how the entire fanbase is feeling?
