Although I am confident and hopeful. Why are a lot of people so confident that Clemson beats them like a drum? I see a lot of people making fun of them not winning a championship in 40 years, and although they talk sh?!. They do have winning record over Clemson. Last time Girley ran wild and LSU and Ohio ST dominated. I do believe D will be much better but O Line is still a concern!! Secondary, who knows?? Please, enlighten me why we should be this confident?

To be fair, if you ask any Georgia fan, their response would be that they beat us like a drum. You could ask them the same question. Do you understand now?

I was hoping you could get decent responses and not be called a Coot for asking the question, and you did for the most part - until I saw, of all people, JK's response. Pretty disappointed in her on this, have to say. It's too bad every time you ask a legit question, someone "goes low" like this.

What has UGA done, especially in big games, that makes you think they can beat us. Yes, we lost to LSU by 17 ...... but that same LSU team beat UGA by 27.

I'll provide a serious response and prepare for the absurd.
UGA has lost some big games: LSU and Bama in the SECCG and Bama in the national championship game. Despite what you may read on TNET, they've also won some big games: Auburn for the SEC Championship, Oklahoma in a playoff, two wins over Notre Dame. You could also ask, what has Clemson done in big games (recently, anyway) which leaves fans so sure of a Clemson win? Aren't the Tigers something like 2-3 in their past five against Top 10?
It's a mistake for anyone to think this is going to be a runaway win for either team. Clemson struggled to run the ball last year with the best RB they've ever had. Think they are going to run it in game 1 against UGA's front 7? UGA will start a guy at QB with a ton of upside (compared to the former walk-on we went with last season) but he hasn't faced a defense like Venables will throw at him. Daniels has limited mobility. Can Clemson pressure him into mistakes? Will UGA hold up at the corners against Clemson's big play ability? Will Todd Monken exploit Clemson's safeties the way OSU did?
I see the difference being in the run game. I think the Dawgs will have more success (not a lot, just enough) there and that will be the difference in the game.

Because they are UGA and no team has done less with more than them. While Clemson has been known to do the opposite. So, it is rather obvious what we will do this year, with all we have.
You do realize that this is the most stacked roster that we may have ever had, right?

I have compared unit to unit and I see Clemson with the edge. I have posted on here before that I feel the game hinges on the Clemson secondary. The name of the game is to score the most points. Clemson’s war daddies up front are going to make it very difficult for the Dawgs to run the football. The only hope Georgia has is to scramble and get movement through the air. If the Tiger secondary plays lockdown football, there is no way the Dawgs outscore Clemson. I do not feel the game is going to be lopsided but, expect we are going to witness another Tiger-Dawg classic. Spot the ball and Go Tigers!

I think I disagree slightly. The key to the game like any game with Georgia is the DL. I think with Murphy, BB, and TD we have 3 certified studs but can we find a 4th and depth to hold up against the run.
I’ve watched their spring game and don’t care about manufactured stats JT Daniels just looks bad. He’s slow, gets rid of the ball too quick, and I don’t believe he can beat us downfield. I think if we can hold up against the run (that’s an if) our pressure will cause an extremely bad night with limited WR talent snd experience for Georgia.
That’s my best assessment and biggest matchup.

the running game we have to stop. The first key is we have to force any running game to go outside. If they run anything with success up the middle (consistently) then that means we're being man handled up front by their Offensive Line and it means it will be a long night and, in my opinion, year. Our DL needs to show the nation that they are "no-doubters" like what we had 3-4 years ago. If we come out shutting down their run game early then its on like donkey kong. Because that relaxes the secondary and linebackers to go make plays elsewhere. IF we're being gashed up the middle the that opens up their playbook and they'll make plays in the run game/pass game/etc.etc. But we need our front 4 to be able to handle that duty by themselves. If we're still having to have skalski be the 5th defensive line stopper on every series then it means this line hasn't gotten better and are still learning. Which at that point.. sux for us.

I question who your a fan of.
1. What does a 2014 game against GA have anything to do with today? They beat up on a very mediocre Cole Stout and Chad Morris run offense. Morris offense was starting to get figured out by many by 2014. See why we beat the breaks off OK with Elliot running offense.
2. LSU did that to EVERYBODY! This sounds like a coot comment.
3. Please tell me what that old record has to do with today? Since Dabo took over we are 1-1. You think spurrier cared that our record against SC was way lopsided. No. They had the better team and showed it for 5 straight seasons. Then our recruiting and better coaching took over and we corrected that blip on the Gamecock history books.
4. No one knows how this game will go. It’s 50-50. Two great Defenses. We have talent but unproven WRs and so does UGA. I think we have the better QB but I know UGA will Argue that. UGA has better Oline. RB is a push. To me if UGA comes out with a different style offense and starts to spread it out then it’ll be a close game. If they come out and try to ground and pound against our D then it’s going to be a lopsided win for the tigers. If DJ doesn’t play up to what we think he’s capable of then UGA could have the lopsided win. We shall see.

What concerns me is that for the last few years Clemson has been a little off at the start of the season and took several games to get rolling, Georgia is a better team than we normally face this early.

I mean we arent even sure, 100% about Justyn Ross and even if he does get to play.. does he show double rust having not played since the LSU game?

I am not confident of a win, I think it will be a tough hard fought game. I am actually a little nervous they will see the same cracks in our D as OSU did. UGA has great athletes, so we need to show up with our A game.

As fans, it’s what you do. With luck and the random “bounce of the ball”, a multi score victory is certainly possible. However, this game is set up to be a slug fest. On paper, both teams are loaded with talent.

If by “we” you mean the Gamecocks- then you should be confident - you guys routinely ruin their season - maybe you will this year too…
If you mean Clemson…UGA is a tier 2 program..
Tier 1 is basically Clemson, Ohio State, and Bama…
LSU was a one year blip…
Tier 2 programs are programs like UGA, Oklahoma, Notre Dame,etc…
Good teams that don’t win championships or big games ….
We have good reason to be confident … at full strength- we generally whip tier 2 programs…
Of course I’m talking about current history…
Not UGA from 40+ years ago or Clemson from 2014…

This OL has more talent and depth than our OL in 2016 or 2018…
They just need to perform to that potential…which is hard to to do with minimal off-season conditioning…part of the problem last year…

I think there is a silent, reasonable, honest group, perhaps even a majority, who see this as a matchup of two pretty evenly matched teams.
To me, I think it will be decided by the team that is able to be more balanced.

Dawg fan here....Yeah, I'm sure I'll get stoned, and uh, no offense, but the fans (at least on the UGA board I frequent) are alot more realistic and humble about this game than you guys/gals are.
Anyway, in case anyone would like a non-bias, objective, realistic forecast of this game, I'll be glad to give you one...
This is two strong, talented teams and it could go either way. I expect your QB to be a stud, but Daniels is no slouch. He had no spring game or the benefit of practicing with the first team and still went 4-0, 300 yds per game and 10-2 Td-to-ints. He's had a year at the helm now. He's a good QB.
Everywhere else on the field these teams look pretty equal to my non-expert eyes. Our DLine, WRs and RBs are certainly our strengths. I think you guys will miss Etienne, maybe more than anyone would admit. He was a stallion by anyone's definition.
We were leading Bama at halftime even without Daniels at QB and that's better than anyone else did, including the same Ohio St. team that beat Clemson in the playoffs. So, it wasn't like we were a bad team last year.
Anyhow...for the record, a certain former QB of yours with the initials TL, graduated HS and is very best friends with my cousin. Yeah, I live about 20 minutes from Cartersville, Georgia. I have met him in person...he's a great kid and I actually pulled for you guys to do well when he was at the wheel. So, it's not like I loathe Clemson like I do our biggest rivals in the SEC (Florida mainly). So, I'll just say I'm excited about this game and may the best team when.

1) UGA historically, certainly in CFP era, has largely underdelivered in results based on the quality of recruits and number of NFL players. This likely speaks to a program that does not grow players and is sub-optimal in getting team results.
2) Kirbeeeeeeee has a BIG history of choking in big games. His decision making is questionable in the moments that count.
