Who's kidding who about soccer?

C'mon - really? If the USA were already out of the WC, soccer would not even be a topic of conversation on this board.
Any game that they use their HEAD to deliberately hit things is a fool's game. And what's up with kicking the ball back to the goalie when you can't manage to get it down field? If we played football like they play soccer, I wouldn't watch that either.

I mean really, who kneels the ball at the end of the game because they're afraid of losing by risking going down field? Oh... My bad, that's football.

passing the ball back to the goalkeeper is to keep

possession as opposed to driving forward with no room and losing the ball. It's like when people who don't understand tennis say "why dont they just smash it every shot?".
It's just a deep ignorance of the sport is all.

You aren't supposed to smash it every time in tennis??? Wow - my motto was "If the fuzz ain't flying - we ain't playing". Maybe I was doing it wrong. If you don't get 2-3 put-aways per match that you bounce over the opponent's fence, you just ain't playing. But - I kinda get your point. I don't know crap about soccer. When I was growing up, I didn't know a single soccer player, and only one kid even had a soccer ball that we would kick around. But my son played soccer on several team including intra-mural at CLEMSON. I just don't get it. Don't take it personally.

I mean really, who fouls every 10 seconds for the last 2 minutes of a game making 2 minutes last 20? Oh that's basketball.
See, it can be done with every sport... fun.

I understand that some people just don't like soccer...that's fine. I love football more than anything but I have been following soccer now for the past 10 years or so and have grown to really enjoy it. It will never be as popular here as our big three sports but I think this is partly because the best players in the world don't play here. This may change as more and more of our best athletes choose soccer over other sports...I already see this happening at the middle and high school level. It's also a generational thing...my 10 year old gets up on Saturdays in the fall and watches English Premier League Soccer in the morning and football in the afternoon...

I understand that not everybody like all sports, but at least you should give it a try. When you make the statements that soccer is a fool´s game just because they use their head, them I hope you dont like football, because I still see players lowering their head and defenders going with their helmets and causing concussion to themselves and to others. It seems that a few people is afraid that soccer is taking over the US and all other sports are going away. Football is not going anywhere and if you can add a great sport like soccer to the things that you can watch the better. Watch the fans from the Portland timbers or the Seattle Sounders of the MLS. They are great fans and they are from the US.
