Fan Talk (Bobby Hartin) whatever out of Charleston said this afternoon that he didn’t think Muschamp would get fired this year.

I will add that he said that’s his own opinion but he’s a lifelong cluker through and through.

Add Taggart to that list.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Taggart's Contract:

Sep 28, 2019, 12:42 AM

"His five-year contract calls for a base salary of $5 million per season:

Date of Hire through Jan. 31, 2019: $5 million
Feb. 1, 2019 through Jan. 31, 2020: $5 million
Feb. 1, 2020 through Jan. 31, 2021: $5 million
Feb. 1, 2021 through Jan. 31, 2022: $5 million
Feb. 1, 2022 through Jan. 31, 2023: $5 million
Feb. 1, 2023 through Jan. 31, 2024: $5 million

And he is eligible to receive several bonuses:

Win national championship: $500,000
Play in national championship: $250,000
Make College Football Playoff: $250,000
New Year’s Six Bowl: 175,000
Bowl appearance and 7-plus wins: $100,000
Bowl appearance: $50,000
Win ACC Championship: $150,000
ACC Championship appearance: $100,000
ACC Coach of the Year: $50,000
Undefeated season: $100,000
National Coach of the Year: $75,000
Single Season APR over 950: $100,000,
APR over 975: $175,000
APR over 990: $200,000
APR over 1,000: $250,000

If Florida State fires Taggart before his contract expires on Jan. 31, 2023, his buyout is 85 percent of the remaining balance. For example, for simplicity's sake, if the Seminoles fire Taggart on Feb. 1, 2020, after his second full season as head coach, they would owe him 85 percent of $20 million, or $17 million.

Feb. 1, 2020: $17 million
Feb. 1, 2021: $12.75 million
Feb. 1, 2022: $8.5 million
Feb. 1: 2023: $4.25 million

If Taggart voluntarily leaves Florida State, he owes $5 million (or the remaining balance if less than $5 million)."

I doubt he's going anywhere soon either!!!

We've discussed Must-coot's buyout numbers . . .

Sep 28, 2019, 12:33 AM

The $18M isn't going to happen from that broke a$$ institution!!!

"Here are the buyout numbers in Fuente’s contract, with the number first being if Virginia Tech were to fire Fuente without cause. The second number is the buyout on Fuente’s contract if he were to leave Virginia Tech on his own accord.

2019: $15 million, $3 million

2020: $12.5 million, $1 million

2021: $10 million, $750,000

2022: $7.5 million, $500,000

2023: $5 million, $500,000

2024: $2 million, zero

The buyout figures, on both sides, decrease on Dec. 15 of each year."

I doubt he's going anywhere either!!!

Re: Who’s fired first?

Sep 28, 2019, 12:34 AM

Pruitt is the obvious choice.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pruitt' Numbers would agree . . .

Sep 28, 2019, 12:44 AM

"When Pruitt arrived in Knoxville in December 2017, he signed a six-year, $22.8-million contract that called for an annual salary of $3.8 million, the combined total of $275,000 in base salary and $3,525,000 in supplemental compensation. He is also eligible for several bonuses:

APR of 945: $50,000
APR of 985: $100,000
AP SEC Coach of the Year: $50,000
AP National Coach of the Year: $100,000
Top 25 in final CFP, USA Today, or AP: $50,000
Top 10 in final CFP, USA Today, or AP: $100,000
Top 5 in final CFP, USA Today, or AP: $150,000
SEC Championship appearance: $100,000
Win SEC Championship: $300,000
Bowl Appearance: $100,000
CFP Access Bowl Appearance: $200,000
CFP Semifinal Game Appearance: $300,000
CFP National Championship Game Appearance: $400,000
Winning National Title: $500,000

MORE: Taggart's Buyout Details

If fired without cause efore his contract expires on Jan. 31, 2024, Pruitt is owed 60 percent of the remaining balance. For example, for simplicity's sake, if Pruitt is fired on Feb. 1, 2020, after his second season as head coach, Tennessee owes him 60 percent of $15.2 million ($3.8 million over four years): $9.12 million.

Full buyout breakdown:

Feb. 1, 2020: $9.12 million
Feb. 1, 2021: $6.84 million
Feb. 1, 2022: $4.56 million
Feb. 1, 2023: $2.28 million

If Pruitt left voluntarily before Dec. 15, 2018, the buyout would've been $6 million. It now decreases by $1 million each year until Dec. 15, 2022."

And that's bc 10 A C can most likely afford to fire Pruitt!!!

Re: Who’s fired first?

Sep 28, 2019, 5:36 AM

With the financial crisis they claim that the coots are in now, after making all that SEC money they were claiming to make a few years ago, I would say that Mustcoot would be the last to go bc they can't afford to do what they have done throughout their history, that is hire bad coach, after bad coach or, washed up old coach, over another washed up old coach!!!!

If the prior coach was worth firing

Sep 28, 2019, 6:14 AM

Why would the next coach, using the prior's recruits be expected to succeed much? How does two years, anywhere, remotely make sense, outside of 'for cause'? A new coach's first recruiting class is generally one of scrambling for what talent remains, but likely half would not be signed under a normal cycle process. Schools certainly throw a lot of money away!

I dont know his buyout situation but I think its Fuente

Sep 28, 2019, 6:35 AM

This is his 4th season and VT has regressed significantly. They've also had tons of players transferring out and stuff. It seems like a toxic situation there.

Bud Foster is also retiring at the end of the year so it would give VT a chance to start fresh with an entirely new staff without having to let Bud go which I'm sure they would be reluctant to do given what he's done for that program.

Re: I dont know his buyout situation but I think its Fuente

His buyout is 15 million still this year I believe. He ain't going nowhere unless they have that lying around.

Re: Who’s fired first?

Sep 28, 2019, 9:25 AM

I think an interesting contract clause would be to make the AD that hired the coach, if still employed, have to forfeit 20% of his or her salary towards the buyout for however many years it covers. Then ADs wouldn’t need to come out with a vote of confidence - they would truly be invested in the success of their coaching hire.

Re: Who’s fired first?

Sep 28, 2019, 9:31 AM

Pruitt - Fat Phil is the biggest backstabber in the sport. I wouldn't be surprised if he's at least partially to blame for the ######## in Knoxville.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Re: Who’s fired first?

Sep 28, 2019, 9:46 AM

Can I guess Ray Tanner? I think all 3 mentioned will get fired in 2020 but are probably safe this year. The coot fans are going to find someone to sacrifice and Tanner isn't going to cost $18 million.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The answer is - who doesn't accept mediocrity

Sep 28, 2019, 10:02 AM

UofSuC perpetually lives in mediocrity therefore Moosecramps will not be terminated this year. My money is on Pruitt followed by Harbaugh.
