That's a great find! I think I had those bicycle pages memorized. I'm looking for train sets now. Erector sets, legos...I had a ton of those toys through the years. Maybe too many - stunted my maturity development.

I have all the girly lego sets from 2008-2016

Not gonna lie.

Nov 24, 2021, 12:06 AM

Same exact thought.

Went to same exact year and season.

Between rainbow fuzzy filter on HBO and these catalogs, I became an expert in hunting down areolas

Times sure have changed

Hotdang - one of yall was talking about these NFL games

Nov 24, 2021, 12:12 AM

and right here on one page we have the handheled electronic game, the vibrating field game and the best one - the strategy game where you would pick your play then spring the little indicator thingy to see the play result (hint - run a flea flicker).

This is from the JC Penny 81 Christmas catalog

I had the 1978 Coleko Football Game....

Nov 24, 2021, 5:33 AM

This one gave you two blockers and you could throw a pass. Show this to a kid today and they wouldn't know why we even bothered with it...

great, great game. got me through many a long, boring car ride as a kid

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who would have guessed we’d be nostalgic for that stuff?

Nov 24, 2021, 3:24 AM

Or is it a testament to how much the world today sucks?

Nov 25, 2021, 12:55 AM

That’s $2,200 in 2021 money.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My grandmother had one of those.

Nov 26, 2021, 9:19 AM [ in reply to I'd pay $112 right now for this fridge. ]

The handle was still tight in the late 50s and the freezer, which I had the pleasure of defrosting had to be defrosted pretty often. I remember my grandmother saying 'Charles, we need a new refigerator,' to which he replied, ######, Nan, that one works fine.' Nothing more was said in ear shot.

I also remember the local Sear's store delivering a new one a couple days later. I thought I could play hide and seek in the old one but my grandfather removed the door when he got home from work. All that was only 60 or so years ago.
