Why was he put in? For that matter, why was Olenchuck taken out? Seems like he was holding his own.

Pitch count was only 63. He gave up a solo bomb to wimmer. He Should Not have been pulled. He was in a grove. The wind was blowing out and wimmer not known for power. What killed us was the 2 singles Clark gave up immediately.
IF you were he!! Bent on taking ty out, then replace him at the time with Grice, askew et al. They had a whole book on mat Clark. If anything, put someone in they haven't seen before. Who knows what outcome would have been... May be worse, maybe not. Still, you put Clark in, gives up 2 solid singles, and then you let him pitch to the hottest hitter in baseball. Not only did he let him pitch to him, you threw nothing but fastballs.
Still we overcome that. Errors and some bad luck killed us when they knotted it at 7. The kid did exactly what he was supposed to, induce ground balls. 2 should have been outs.
Next, panya had only 6 pitches and pitched good. Should have gone back in the next inning.
We're a good team and errors and bad bounces occur. Missed bunt etc, That's baseball. Still, that said, I firmly believe at critical points of a game, you have to coach from your gut based on how a games going. You throw out that stupid tendancies and stats book crap and just coach.
2 outs, bottom 9, outfield and infield have to be playing deep. Both nights. Same mistake. They squeeze a grounder or a blooper fly in, so be it, then tip your cap... But don't let them hit one over your head with 2 outs and man on second.

Absolutely shouldn’t have been, you’ve got two midweek starters left with only 1 midweek game this week, either Lindsey or Askew were available, plus Crice the 3 rd weekend starter that he took out of the game and wasted that opportunity.

It's a long season. Can't stretch pitchers out this early. It may set them back for a week or more. Managing arms this early is tough because of the unpredictability of the weather, schedule, etc. So you do the best you can game to game with an eye on the long term.
