Who remembers Khalil Greene and the greatest season

May 23, 2021, 2:32 PM

by a Clemson player and one of the best ever in collegiate baseball.

Most can remember how good Seth Beer was since it was just a few years ago, but Khalil put on a clinic in 2002 for Clemson!!! His average of .480 is almost unreal, that’s video game stuff. His OPS was 1.445 which is INSANE. Back when the game was much different than now but that season was rated as the 11th best collegiate season ever. The other 10 ahead of him were strong as well, but none were really “better” in my opinion. Fun times!! Plus Clemson was going to Omaha back then, would be nice to see that again but the team just isn’t anywhere close physically or mentally.

2022 might be the year, eternal optimist lol

Yes, along with Jeff Baker and Michael Johnson that season..

unfortunately, that season was overshadowed by 2 blowout losses to the Coots in Omaha.

Yea, bad way to end the season!!! But it was in Omaha at least

There have been so many greats. Khalil probably is my favorite.

Also, some years earlier - Kris Benson putting together a complete game (or at least 8 innings) was a masterpiece to see.
He started off great, but still managed to get stronger as the game went on.

Back when there was actual swagger around Clemson baseball

And it actually hurt when we lost because it was rare

Khalil Greene was wearing pink suits before wearing

Pink suits was cool.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

He also used flat brim caps

Before that was the thing to do too

That was a great year but he pick the worst time to go in a slump.
He even made his first errors of the year in the CWS.

Yup. He made two in one game against the coots. I couldn’t believe it.

He was unbelievable though. Hitting .480 with 30ish homers is absolutely insane. Obviously we will never see anything like that again. He had one good year with the Padres where he hit like 25ish homers.

Yea I don’t think we will see those type numbers ever again. Truly special year, can only imagine how big that baseball looked coming toward home plate lol. A beach ball lol ??

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

He was hitting well over .500 almost all season

May 25, 2021, 5:29 PM

Took a late season "slump" to ONLY hit .480
Anyone who watched him that year has probably never seen a better season of baseball played by anyone.

His last plate appearance in the Super against Arkansas at DKS was awesome. We had pretty much locked up the game and the place went crazy as soon as the ball came off his bat. Wish there was video of that somewhere.
