Who here remembers the DW4 that came to Clemson, was a role model

for the young fans who wanted so badly to see and also be #4 on the football field.

He was always humble, but also very competitive in spirit and as we all know he did not ever quit.

He got to NFL and was doing great things in and around Houston, and bought his Mom a home. All was going so well for him in life.....

I have no idea what happened, but he simply lost his way. I do not know him and cannot rationalize any of this since noone truly knows Deshaun, but he does not seem to be a bad guy. However, he made some very costly decisions that are coming back to haunt him and appear to be ending his career in football. He is nowhere near the player he once was, and he seems to have lost the competitive nature that drove him to be such a success.

And I will add this: hanging around #### stars is about as stupid and idiotic as you can get. I am sure Mia is a fine person, but you cannot associate with filth when you are a professional athlete unless you want trouble. Nothing against #### stars, but trash is trash and hanging around it makes you what ??? He seems incapable of making good decisions any longer, maybe the money went straight to his head and he forgot who he was.

I think he simply forgot who and what Deshaun Watson was before all the money and fame. Now he is being ridiculed and playing bad football, and he pretty much brought this all on himself. No, I do not for one moment think Deshaun did these alleged actions, but I also believe he put himself in bad situations where you have to realize bad things cand and will happen.

I try to remember the DW4 who played on 1 leg to defeat those Coots, or the young man who simply did not quit against Alabama and drove the Tigers to victory. But that seems so long ago and like a different person than what we see and hear now.

Prayers for him to get all this straightened out and get his life on track and stay out of trouble.

Playing wise he looked bad sunday but they were missing a couple of starting OL and the Browns are not likely to be very good. Not much of a ground game so he has to find w/r's and they arent all that great.

I found out he was missing some key offensive lineman, both starting OT's were not playing. That is hard to overcome, especially with Parsons on the other side of the line.

However, it has been several years since he has regularly looked like his best days. He had a nice stretch at Houston, but since then pretty much nothing but troubles. He was missing throws pretty badly Sunday, and also some drops that did not help. Either way, he is struggling in football and more importantly he is struggling in life. Not good

So this may be an unpopular take, seems like there are a lot of DW4 apologists on tnet but we don’t need to defend him or justify him.

I will not defend him or attempt to say he is a good person, he was a great player at Clemson maybe the greatest, but we have to accept the fact that being a great player does not make him a good person. Everything that has been revealed by his personal conduct shows quite the contrary. I would not want my sons to emulate his off the field life, I would not want my daughters to be in the same room with him alone, full stop.

The only reason it seems that most defend him is because he was a generational talent and he was the driving force of some of our best teams. If he was a fringe player he would be quickly disavowed. If he played for another school , not only would he be personally vilified and constantly mocked, he would also absolutely be a reflection of the cultural failings of that school and of Clemson’a moral superiority over that school.

Our best players do not have to be morally upright to be great but it seems like we need to hold on to that myth for our own purposes for some reason…

His is a tale as old as time. Young man from a hardscrabble upbringing all of a sudden has great wealth. He does his best to deal with his situation in a responsible manner. Then drip drip drip the wrong influences continually knock on his door. He resists the temptations but slowly lets a little one in the door, but we all know the opening only grows.

The most important thing we have is our reputation and his reputation is smashed. His best chance was to have found a nice girl and settled down but that did not happen.

Whats funny is all the people who idolized Watson and placed him on a pedestal when he was here that have turned on him now. Nothing has been proven. He's innocent until proven guilty last time I checked, hasn't even been formally charged with a crime, but so many "fans" have judged him. Does it look good? No. Does that mean hes guilty? No. I would think with all the Christians here they would follow the bible and not judge people, but apparently that's asking too much. Save your stones for after a trial if he's found guilty.

You're right, though. There has not been a trial...because DW4 settled out of court. If he wants to clear his name, go to trial.

A Christian believes in forgiveness. But also justice. In fact, if you really want to understand Christian forgiveness, you must understand justice. They go together (but that's a topic for another thread).

I can't vouch for other Christians "judging" DW4. That's not my job. It's the job of the legal system and God.

But I'm also not naive.

So because he settled so he could get back to playing football that automatically makes him guilty? Look, I'm not pleading his case. I was always a big fan of his during his time at Clemson. That young man single handedly willed our team to victory on numerous occasions. The simple fact is he has not been charged with a crime, nor proven guilty and until he is I'm not going to say hes tarnished anything. If you want him to go to court, tell law enforcement to charge him and make him have to go to trial. If he SA'd anyone I'll be the first to say he doesn't deserve the title of a Clemson man, until then I'm not going to say he's right or wrong because its not my place. Until there actual evidence, proof, how can you call for justice? This is what I'm talking about, hes already guilty to you, you just wont say it.

He has had civil suits, 23, give or take. And an equal opportunity to have his day in court. For whatever reason, he has not taken advantage of this option to clear his name.

I'm not calling him guilty, so you needn't put words in my mouth.

I'm simply saying that he has not availed himself of the avenue our justice system provides for clearing his name.

Until he does, there will be questions.

I wasn't aware it was on the defendant to prove his innocence. I always thought the prosecution had to prove guilt. A civil suit is not proof of a crime, once again I'm saying he has not been charged. Did you not think about how he may have wanted to get back to actually playing football instead of going through years of court battles to "prove his innocence". By your logic law enforcement had 23 tries since there are 23 alleged victims to prove his guilt and failed to do so. Again, he does not need to "clear his name" since he hasn't been convicted of a crime. Look, neither one of us are going to change the others mind so we may as well leave it here. I would say I'll be happy to come back and admit your were right if he is ever charged, but I'll be honest, I definitely wouldn't be happy about it. I don't want him to be guilty, even though I know its possible he is.

Never idolized him but you are right, a lot of people did.

And I truly hope he is redeemed and all these accusations prove to be wrong. Only he truly knows what is in his heart and what has been done, so he gets to live with that. Either way, he has made some really bad choices in life and I am not faulting anyone for that, it is human nature. But as a professional athlete or anyone for that matter, it is best to steer clear from "trouble" which is exactly what he has found based on his own decisions. Nobody foreced him to get messages from 40+ women, nobody forced him to hang out with adult film stars....those are simply poor choices

Nope, he owes me nothing. Simply stating an opinion that you can either take or leave. But since you deemed a response was necessary then I shall offer a rebuttal.

He owes nobody anything, but what he is happening with him is of his own creation. His lack of awareness in decision making is concerning, nobody there to help him understand how bad some of his choices were ??? It is sad, my guess is he had some people around him who told him it was fine.

I am not one to throw stones, my life is full of disappointment in myself. Which is why I can see the shortcomings in decisions/choices others make because it is painfully obvious.

Again, my hope is that the young man who came to Clemson and was such a good role model can turn his life around and get back to being that guy. Hanging around adult stars, massages from 40+ women, just terrible decisions when you live under a spotlight. He is better than that, let us hope he realizes that.

The Watson we knew at Clemson is the true Watson. Gracious to fans, a great team leader and someone who built homes for the poor. But the Watson behind closed doors in these allegations is also the true Watson. It is possible for both to be true.

For all we know he did not do anything like that while at Clemson so perhaps it truly was money that changed him, made him thing he could do anything he wanted.

What’s sad is that before these allegations came to light, Watson was widely liked by the football world. People were starting to praise him and his leadership in Houston. I remember he gave a detailed answer to the press about a play call shortly before all of this and many people called it the best answer they had heard a QB give.

The famous "Easter Bunny" argument wins every time.

Did you learn that from watching Blue's Clues in your Mom's basement, last week?

It’s a shame that so many of you have convicted and abandoned Watson.

As far as I know, he has never faced any criminal charges. Lots of civil suits.

I remember in a town I used to live in there was a contractor that operated his business by suing everybody. If he owed somebody money, he sued them and settled for a portion. He filed thousands of lawsuits and saved hundreds of millions of dollars.

Everybody in town knew he was a POS. I personally know bankers that stopped lending to him. I personally know attorneys that wouldn’t represent him because he had a long established track record of not paying his legal bills.

The dude was a mess. First class POS.

But forget about him, the family that owns the Texans teamed up with buzbee and all they’re doing is filing lawsuit after lawsuit against Watson. These people are 100% garbage.

If Watson is convicted in a court of law, then OK he is guilty and I will recognize his guilt.

But for now, all I see is a bunch of trashy dirtballs making accusations.

Until I see learn otherwise, I fully support Watson.

Me too. I gotta hear a lot more than a bunch of allegations from a sleaze bag attorney to ditch somebody.
