Who has the "rain advantage"?

Oct 1, 2015, 11:55 AM

It feels like it's safe to say that A) It is going to rain, and B) We are still going to be play.

That said, who does rain give the advantage to? Our running game has been ok, but our line has been shaky. Is ND praying for rain?

The ND style favors rain. That said, I think we have the

ND better be praying... but I don't think it'll help.***

They are probably more used to colder weather and rainy conditions. But I like Dabo's mindset of not getting psyched out by the rain. It's important we focus on what matters: playing solid four quarters of football.

Nobody. It's going to effect both teams equally. Our DL is tough as nails and can handle their OL easy. Our OL will be in question but maybe this is the game they start to gel!

I say it helps Clemson from the standpoint of helping to neutralize Prosise's speed. Wayne is great after contact and is not the homerun threat Prosise is so this is less of an impact for Clemson. I think it hurts Clemson in that it also neutralizes our speed/edge rush against/around ND's big O-line.

I think it helps our defensive game plan. The question was always: can we get away with man coverage so we can bring LB's and a safety up in run support? Well, if it is pouring, then ND will throw less often and the passes will likely be less accurate. Thus, we can afford to take more chances with our LB's/S against the run.

I think it hurts our offensive game plan. We are more of the finesse team between the two and the rain will negatively impact some of our play calling and some of the effectiveness of our quick passing game. However, sloppy conditions do favor runners with great vision/anticipation as everything gets a little slower, so this could help DW to run the ball effectively.

Well, those are my thoughts. As a whole, I think the rain is about a wash for Clemson. I dont think it helps us anymore than it hurts us, but it does change the game plans.
