Who calls the plays on offense?

Sep 6, 2021, 5:43 AM

Elliott? Dabo? A combination of the two?

I assumed that Elliott calls the plays, but I read here that Dabo calls them too or at least signs off on them.

I would love to know who primarily needs to be held accountable for the amazing lack of creativity and productivity recently.

Dabo does not sign off on plays why would we need an OC if he did that.

Tony Elliott is not creative and been shut down against elite teams.

Plenty of head coaches call plays or are at least very involved.***

Elliot sucks as far as anything remotely creative. He is very predictable. I am sure he has a bunch of amazing qualities as a coach, but not being predictable and vanilla is not one of them.

50/50 Dabo and Tony both call plays…

It’s cute how you want to jump all over the football coaches

Sep 6, 2021, 6:24 AM

The same way people criticize our basketball coach.

Fire Elliot, fire Brownlee

I think the OC has elite talent and score 3 points.

Spin that with 2 yards rushing. That is not acceptable on any level.

I will hang up and listen

RUNJUMPCATCH now that is cute. You obviously never have played football or have no clue

about the game. Nobody is jumping on coaches stating facts. Someone has to be held

accountable for that Offense that was so predicable.

Unfortunately Tony’s offenses have under performed against good to elite defenses. No adjustments seemed to have been made since the whipping that OSU put on us. For example, if you cannot block them with the oline leave the TE and a back in to help. We did not air it out once to my recollection.

If DJ cannot run the ball in big games, this offense is in trouble against good defenses.

Tony has to adapt. But he also needs Caldwell to retire so this line can take the next step.

held accountable and the other untouchable?

Based on our last few games, I wonder if Brownell would have called better plays.***

Not saying which is right or wrong but Saban has brought in the likes of Lane Kiffen, Steve Sarkisian, and now Bill O’Brein in the last 5 years. Clemson decided to go the route of promoting up and within.
Yet Clemson has 2 titles in the last 5 years.

To take it even farther, Dabo has went the High School route in a roundabout way with Chad Morris, Lemanksi Hall , Mickey Conn and then a RB coach with zero experience in CJ Spiller. And that’s occurred at a program that’s been the 2nd biggest program in the last 10 years in situations where you could hire probably 99.9 % of all available assistant coaches away from any school out there.

CJ Spiller is a nice but running backs were soft 2 yards rushing.

That's A Question

that we'll never get a straight answer, we will never know.

Dabo carries a play sheet and speaks into his headphone every play.

Generally the OC but if you watch you can see when Dabo takes over. He is looking at the play sheet and calling the plays into the headset.

He took over for a good bit of GA.

Note, I know what they SAY in terms of who is calling, I don't care about that. Thats politics.

Re: Who calls the plays on offense?

Dabo looks at the play sheet and covers his mouth the majority of plays in a game. I do not know if he is calling plays or approving plays. You will have to ask him. I do know that this procedure must cause a delay in getting a play to the field if you want to go fast tempo.

Also Streeter is the passing game coordinator. Does he have a voice in calling plays?
