Who are Clemson's big donors??
Oct 9, 2013, 9:00 AM

Serious question here, I need to be enlightened. Everyone talks about how you need big donors like Oregon's Phil Knight & Nike to make substantial financial contributions to athletics and facilities that will enable the program to advance (or stay on par) in todays modern arms race. I can't think of a single big donor for Clemson. I know we have had some alumni go on to establish successful franchises like Hooters, but what else is there? Are there other big, Clemson-owned franchises that contribute? We are a relatively small alumni base compared to Texas, OSU, etc. but we seem to get a lot of bang for our buck, thanks in no small part to IPTAY of coarse.

Walt is a huge donor... he donates his crappy show every week to Clemson...his superficial comments and predictions and his love on Manzel and Brady...he is a true Clemson donor.

maybe Alum. He used to tailgate near my friend. Not sure if he donates or what he donates. Not sure if he is "big" donor or not.

I know him well. He definitely prefers to be UNDER the radar as do a lot of our large donors.

A lot comes from alumni making large donations all at once

I believe Charlie Whitehurst donated 1 Million, or 500K. Someone definitely donated a million (definitely former athlete, if not Charlie then it was CJ). Nice to see them giving back to the university who helped them make such a good living.

Hooter's is no longer owned by the Brooks Family, but by a holding company out of Charlotte.
