while we're talking about the Supremes

After hearing a few pubs b1tch and moan, and get their pannies in a bunch about Biden "packing the court", I decided to look into it and see exactly what all the fuss was about. Biden did indeed create a BIPARTISAN commission to look into making some changes in the judicial branch....possibly expanding the court is just 1 of many ideas being looked into, others include possible term limits(which I am all for). Btw i'm for imposing term limits for all branches. So it's snot exactly the power grab that the right would have you believe. Yeah imagine that, lol.
I think its a smart thing to do some info gathering, including public opinion(polls) before making a move. Lastly as I said before, change is not always bad, and many institutions, laws and public opinions have changed over time, and perhaps the Supremes should also
Here is what you need to know https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/04/09/president-biden-to-sign-executive-order-creating-the-presidential-commission-on-the-supreme-court-of-the-united-states/

My own opinion is keep the Court its current size, allow each prez to appoint two new Justices each 4-year term, one every two years. De-politicize the thing. That turns the Court every 18 years, and stops hijinks from happening like we've been seeing.
Probably the best solution, IMHO, and takes all the drama out of it. The Court needs to stay a neutral body or how the eff is anybody supposed to trust its judgments? Packing or stacking is an inherently bad idea. McConnell was a shortsighted idiot to grab seats - his legacy as a partisan hack is thoroughly cemented, now and forever - and the Dems won't be served to pack the Court the other way back, and I really hope they don't.

not speaking for quozzel, but i'll speak for myself
you can say it would still be a majority or whatever, but its also about how the game is played. that move by pubs was some lier lier pants on fire kinda stuff. Watching Mitch McTurtlefaces smug ugly was pretty disgusting. Also keep in mind these are lifetime appointments, so an appt can swing things for a generation, then someone else leaves the court in some way and someone else is appointed....
and another thing. and this is from the judges themselves. Sometimes a judge will stay on long after they should have retired, so be around (hopefully) for a right or left Potus gets elected. I think that is not a good idea, but I understand why. I think that in advanced age, its a better idea to have younger sharper judges.... term limits might fix that to some degree

again its what happened, not what the outcome is/would be. I know, it makes no sense to you coz all you are concerned with is did your side win or not.
and you are correct RBG did that....she wasn't the 1st judge in history to do such a thing tho. I get why she did it, but I wish judges didn't feel like they have to. = term limits

you keep throwing that 152 yrs thing out, as if that means it should stay as is. How many things have changed in that 152 yrs...answer - ALOT
Cutting thru all the noise. This why we vote, this is how government works. you don't like something, flex your muscle at the ballot box, and vote for someone likeminded and effect change. Biden won, the peoples have spoken. Supreme court reform was an issue bandied about, and the peoples have spoken. Sorry that you don't like it
that said. the commission is not complete. So we don't even know what the findings will ultimately be or how will all unfold. For example what if Biden fills the judgeships with the most middle of the road judges out there....what am I saying, no matter how reasonable the right will attack them just coz Biden appointed them

the senate, the house, the prez. yes the people have spoken.
like I said this idea was bandied about along with other things....unlike the list of nonsense posted on here that Biden would do. 1 side won, 1 side lost. This is how government works or should. you should check out some School House Rock
