Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Feb 28, 2022, 7:55 AM

Friday night, went to majestic Gastonia to have dinner for my Dad's birthday. Good times.

Saturday, did a tiny bit of yard work, then made smoked armadillo eggs to take to an oyster roast.

Sunday, up to Asheville for the Charlie Starr and Benji Shanks acoustic show at The Grey Eagle. Cold and rainy are ideal conditions to go up there. Not nearly as many people in the way. French Broad chocolate didn't even have a line.

Welp, the Tigers won but I didn't die.

Good sattidy for Clemson athletics. Soccer beats a pro team, beisbol and softball both win doubleheaders and the fightin' Brownlees won a road game.

Sunday, went to church, did the kids taxes and watched golf. Cooked up some German beer cheese soup.

8/10 (15.2/19 on the RH Covid scale) for no apparent reason.

Friday, late night. Had somebody want me to send a resume

Feb 28, 2022, 7:59 AM

in front of my boss's friend. So that will be interesting.

Saturday: Watched a game, went shopping, got threatened. Same old same old.

Sunday: Went and saw nephew. That was about it.

Drank the same amount I normally do but I am extra hungover this morning.

Weird.

Ssshhhhh. I’m sleeping in this morning.

Weekend was pretty alright.

Friday was called into work.

Saturday did some Costco shopping, broke in the new deep freezer, and did some repair work on the privacy fence.

Sunday… well that seems like a lifetime ago. But I’m sure it was epic.

Friday - Italian meatball and pasta night. Walked down to the pub and had some fun. Walked home too as it was finally warm enough.

Saturday - worked a funeral and then went to a really good lunch with the family. Kids went skiing with Mrs. Manac, probably for the last time of the season. Mrs. Manac had a HUGE girls party at the house. I took kids to Mexican dinner, then to inlaws. The I came home and walked down to the pub again. Didnt walk home as I was too lazy. Lyft for the win.

Sunday - really foggy morning. Mrs Manac was the most hungover of all time, dealt with that mess. Skipped church cause after working the funeral and that service, felt like I had enough church in me for the week. Lazy lazy day. Kids got to play outside for a while as it was like 45 degrees, lol. So we spent time outside and then went to Monster Jam. Monster Jam is loud, fun and some hot moms attend Monster Jam too. It was fun.

Fri - not much during the day. Mexican for supper with all the kids and the wife, which was lovely. Quick run downtown for a beer and met some friends. Didn't hang around long, home and in bed at a decent hour. Wish I had run by Aiken Brew Pub for a quick one as Jerry Foltz was in town to play Palmetto on Saturday and was there at the time.

Sat - spent some quality time on my back, not in the good way. Did some projects at my mom's house including some plumbing in her master bathroom. Got mostly done but it appears that her sink faucet will need to be replaced. No big deal now that I have the other issues addressed. Will be able to swap it out in about an hour (LOLOLOL, yeah right). Wife worked a 12 hour shift, so waited for her to get off of work and went to an oyster roast that my brother had a couple of extra tickets to. Found a nice little crab in one of the oysters. He sure was delicious. Got out of there and then went to the Pub for a couple quick ones with the wife since we had some time left on the clock before having to pick up the kid. Home and tried to watch a couple of episodes of Jack Ryan but crashed at some point along the way.

Sun - Redhead things, then Sam's Club run for gas and a few items. A couple other errands and replaced a headlight in the Pilot. Met brother and SIL at Mellow Mushroom for a beer that evening (MauldinT was not there). Wasn't feeling it so headed home. Got kid in bed at a decent time, and think everyone in the house was asleep by 10 pm, which doesn't happen much around our house.

Saturday morning was Pinewood Derby. Son won his den and placed 5th in the pack. Went to celebrate at his favorite restaurant, Groucho's. Then off to the Zoo, where we managed to get in with an expired membership card. Was a zoo at the zoo, but he had a blast. Grocery run was next. Sunday youngest sang in church, went to inlaws to visit MIL who just had knee replacement #2. Came back and did some work Sunday afternoon.

Pretty good. 8.5/10

Started early Fri at noon and went fishing

Feb 28, 2022, 8:25 AM

which was tough. No biguns, and only had 4 total.

Met fam at pizza place for dinner then watched a movie with kids.

Sat - Family trip to the grocery store, played outside, worked on my kayak a little, grilled burgers for dinner

Sun - Church in the morning, built a fort inside, played games, set a new new record on handheld Pacman (>50,000 pts)

Feb 28, 2022, 8:30 AM

Friday, got a last-minute invite for an acoustic jam at a pal's house that I haven't seen in a long while. He's a singer-songwriter trying to get his second album off the ground working with some of the Capricorn Records people down in Macon so it's not often I get that opportunity. Ran through a very eclectic song list and a handful of his originals and I was happy to be able to hang with the band playing by ear since I only knew maybe 25% of the songs we did walking in.

Saturday, took an early morning hike with the pup and she took off after a deer while still on the leash and pulled me into a tree. Sliced open the pointer finger knuckle on my left hand and had to walk back down the road pouring blood out of the wound like a faucet. I started to rub blood all over my face and stumble back to the house to freak passing cars out but I didn't want to stain my good Clemson hoodie. Fixed finger, went to watch the first half of the Brownell game with RH Mom. Back to the house to prep everything for grilling. Chicken thread last week inspired me so I did a pack of drumsticks in Olive Garden Italian dressing along with pimento cheese and back stuffed jalapenos.

Sunday, rainy and generally dreary morning so laid around drinking coffee and not much else. Finally got motivated to make the grocery run, back home to walk the pup before heading to the Thirsty Beaver for the Deke Dickerson show. I've seen the Beaver crowded, heard it loud, and been in many a rowdy crowd there but this show was an all-time record. Deke put on a phenomenal show, by the end he was dancing on top of the bar with a half dozen women. If you've ever been there you'd know that this is somewhat of a feat. Back home around 9, ate Saturday leftovers and watched the movie Serenity, which I can never not watch when it comes on.

Pretty much a 18.99/19 Covids weekend, deducting for dealing with the sliced knuckle all weekend.

BONUS: This is a small part of what a Deke Dickerson show is like...

Son and wife not feeling up to par.

Friday night we went to Real Mexico. Kids fought like helll for the first half of the meal, then started playing nice.

Saturday I got up, wanted to do all sorts of stuff, lost motivation and decided to burn some limbs/trees I had cut down. Did that all day, and into the night. Some friends rode by, saw the fire, and stopped and had a few beers with me/us. I worked like a dog dragging up limbs and trees. Found some trespassers on the estate and ran them off.

Sunday morning, we skipped church because wife and boy not feeling good. Went to Casa de Waffle with the wife. It took hours (or it seemed like it did). Got home, full of coffee... decided to lay back down because I was sore from Saturday. Got up and went into the woods with my daughter to hang up 60 no tresspassing signs. There are trails from then neighborhood onto our place that are beaten down like the trails at a state park. They've even lined the dang trails off, like this:

People are utterly insane. I digress, though. Then I went inside and layed around watching the Simpsons and snuggling with my daughter until dinner. Never got out of bed after that.

I'm a big ol' POS. Tired AF monday morning, but accomplished very little.

Meh/10

Friday night both boys played, my middle's team which I coach won and I got threatened by an opposing team's parent afterwards (I'll explain later) and then the youngest's team won. Went to dinner and it took two hours, but the street tacos at Charanda's are pretty good.

Saturday wife got up and went to Clemson for Women's Alumni Council Meeting and I took all the kids to Daughter's last game. They lost 9-8 or something like that, missing free throws killed it for them. Season was over though. Went to gym then home to clean up for a few hours. Wife got home and we ate dinner.

Sunday up for Church and Basketball Banquet afterward. Standard Sunday with Grocery store run and getting ready for the week.

6/10, the opposing parents at my game messed up my entire weekend, just threw me off.

Friday: I was told that I needed to get a haircut for an upcoming court appearance. Apparently judges don’t like mullets and I look like I “belong in the grandstands of a NASCAR race.” I don’t understand why that’s a bad thing, but whatever.

I strolled into SportsClips and was told there was a 40 minute wait unless I was willing to get a haircut from a “stylist” who was interviewing for a job. When they told me the haircut was going to be free, I was all over it.

Turned out to be a horrible idea. The girl just moved from Newport News, VA which I now realize means that she didn’t have any experience cutting hair like mine. Copious amounts of clipper usage and clear cut straight lines along the edges.

I LOOK LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN EMINEM AND A Q TIP. I wore a hat all weekend and have a feeling it won’t come off for at least two weeks.

That, unfortunately, was not even remotely close to the worst part of my weekend. Im normally depressed on Monday mornings, but it’s really off the charts today.

More like this. I look like the type of guy who would get beat up on a Thursday night at the bowling alley for accidentally using someone’s else’s ball. I don’t even like taking my hat off to shower.

Lot of round-ball...

Feb 28, 2022, 9:10 AM

Friday - Son-of had all-star tourny game at Clemson-Central. Lost by 1 point...thought season was over. As we get home, get a text that other team had to forfeit due to playing players that weren't on the roster.

Saturday - Hit Mama Penn's for traditional game-day breakfast. Was solo 'cause wife and daughter being lazy. Son-of had game at 11am at Clemson-Central - his team won, so have championship game at 2pm. Hit Your Pie for lunch...was good...then back to gym for his game. Got to watch the 1st qtr, then had to leave. Daughter-of's team I coach had championship game at 4 in Anderson so I had to leave early. His team got killed by the Clemson team, who was a much better team and moved the ball around at a level not normally seen in U14 BB.

Our team started off poorly and opposing team was throwing up wild shots and hitting them. Down by 6 at half-time. I dropped some inspiration on them at half-time, switched around our def a bit and they responded in the 2nd half. We ended up winning by 8 and only allowed 2 pts in the 2nd half. Daughter-of had a great season and finished with her best game. She was a force in the middle on Def - had 9 blocks, a ton of rebounds, and led the team in scoring. Trophies secured and was a great end to a good season. Probably the hardest team I've had to coach in terms of overall talent level. Had 3 decent players and 5 who could barely catch a pass and dribble with 1 hand at the start of the season.

Sunday - rainy and cold and didn't do a dang thing. Son-of and I hit Mexican for early dinner and that was about it. Bed early.

4 BB games in a day and a half is about my limit.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feb 28, 2022, 9:16 AM

Friday night, left a meeting and went and watched one of my buddies play some live music up on North Main, ate a beautiful chicken philly (chicken was marinated in tea leaves) with 4 different kinds of cheese and fresh veggies. It was good. Came home and got banned from XBox Live for calling someone a pussy and telling him to kill himself over text chat. I'm sure the kid was probably like 9 years old or something. I still have some spiritual work to do. Luckily it was only a 2-day suspension and is over now.

On Saturday, I jammed out to some tunes on a road trip to Pageland and scooped pawpaw up to go eat Mexican. For the first time in his 89 years, I talked him into trying the super exotic foreign food known as a fajita. He also tried guacamole. I could tell once he ate both that he knew he had missed out all these years. Came home and watched Lone Ranger and took a nap in the recliner beside pawpaw ---- that same recliner that mawmaw used to nap and rant about politics and just enjoy each others' presence in. <img border="> Really special day for me.

Woke up and went down to the farm with Dad that we just restocked back in late 2020. Pulled out about 10 little hand-sized small-mouth bass on about 25 casts. Used a small strike king spinner and they were just tearing it up. It was actually pretty fun using an ultra-light rod and reel and letting the drag loose a little bit to let them run around with the bait once hooked. Excited to see what that pond looks like in a couple of years.

Sunday, met with sponsor and then had a nice lunch at Bonefish. Did some shopping then met up with a group of my buds for coffee and bullshidddding. Went to the gym. Knocked out all the laundry and floor/surface cleaning stuff and had a guy come give me an excellent price on getting all the mulched leaves, pinecones and sticks outta the yard for spring. I refuse to bust my back on menial shid like this anymore. Life too short.

Hope you all had a great one too.

We were stuck at home and couldn’t go anywhere because of the COVID. Kinda weird, we both felt awful all week, pork tenderloin tested positive on Wednesday on Friday I took a home test and tested negative. I know those aren’t as accurate, but still weird.

Watched the new Madea movie and one of my favorites, The Interview. Had some fun in the mange, but that was about it.
