they were already looking for a reason to can him and probably would have if not for the large buyout. The alleged NCAA recruiting violations was the last straw but enabled UT to fire him for cause and avoid having to pay his $12.6 million buyout.
So much for due process.
The funny thing is, Fulmer was one of the biggest cheats of his time, but since he was winning, his cheating was effectively ignored.
