2014 had more discipline. 2015 had more talent. 2016 may be a perfect mixture of both.
Love the passion and attention to detail I am seeing so far from this group despite some shortcomings at a few positions.

This year's defense is my favorite

I was on the fence until Boulware put Lavar Jackson in a choke hold. That pretty much sealed the deal for me.

For so many years we lamented not having the physicality and passion to win at a high level under Bowden. That has certainly changed.
But man, that 2014 unit could straight up ball. May not have had the collective talent of '15 and '16 but was so consistent in its assignments.

Either '15 or '16 - they're close. '15 seemed to anchor inside and rush from the outside. '16 seems to set the edge outside and rush from the inside. Both did some combination of getting rush, but overall, that's what it looks like to me.

just because of how much fun Beasley and Jarrett were to watch. '17 defense should be even better though.

I don't think people realize just how good the '14 defense was.

I'd have to say them because they were probably the best clemson defense I've seen in my life. The '15 was good as well but gave up many big plays. This year's defense seems unproven and hungry, and they are playing great so far this year. '14 was the best, but '16 isn't taking a backseat to anyone.

By the end of the season of 2016, compare it to the end of 2015 season. I think that 2016 will be as good, and has a chance to be better than 2015. The 5th game of the year, this 2016 Defense held the best offense we will see all year to 36 points. And this D didn't have it best starters on the field at once. That tells me that this D can be special with everybody healthy....

Agree with your order.
The '15 unit had alot of swag and was flashy but I'd have to place them third on the list as well for just too many breakdowns. I think if they had played with the level of discipline of '14 or '16 they may have been the best ever.
Although one could certainly contend our dline this year is the best yet.

2016. DLine is best ever and we don't give up the big plays

that have plagued us in the past. DLine is just so dominant that we can control your run game and get pressure on passing downs with our front four, allowing our back seven to run around and make plays.

Through 5 games, this year's defense seems to be the best tackling group we've had in a while. Yeah, Lamar got away a few times, but he's a little above average... as in "the real deal."

4 straight wins in the middle of the season. We scored a grand total of THREE offensive TDs in the Louisville, BC, and Cuse games combined. And won all three.

304 is the best by far. It had the perfect combination of talent, experience, and depth at every position.
