Where will it end?

Apr 5, 2013, 7:40 AM

I read the front page of this website that stated potential number 1 recruit has Clemson on his list. I was disgusted to read that he is a sophmore. What is next? Are we going to start scouting elementary school playgrounds for the star of tomorrow? Wow did you see how fast little LaMont made it across those monkey bars? "Look at Johnny hit that rock with that stick. Incredible hand eye coordination for a 6 year old." Give me a break. Where does it end?

It will probably end before it gets to your situation***

Could be a dire sign, but I read recently where a Daddy

Apr 5, 2013, 7:56 AM

already "committed" his child to a school. Problem is the child is a newborn, who just happened to weigh in at birth at some 11 pounds, and folks were saying things like, "What a future linebacker," or "What a hoss!" The Daddy was quite proud and thought, "Now is the time to cement the future!"

As coach after coach came to behold the newly begotten, each gawked at the child's size, the set of powerful lungs, and most assuredly, the loud screaming and wailing for the next bottle. Said one: "Sounds like a perfect fit for our program." And the offers came pouring in.

There was a slight hitch, however: the kid turned out to be a girl! And all the coaches trudged with tails tucked, each squealing in disgust "Whew whew whew" all the way home....

Yes, I think you are on to something...where will it all end? lol

college coaches as early as middle school. And it will only get worse with the unlimited texting (and calls?)that's coming down the pike.

When I was a sophomore, Clemson was on my list too...

Apr 5, 2013, 8:09 AM

...why does it disgust you that a kid in the 10th grade is looking at the choices that will influence the rest of his life?

I'd be far more worried if (1) we WEREN'T on his list or (2) that we weren't aware of potentially one of the top players in the nation in the next two years.

I'm more worried that media and fans are worried about

What schools a sophomore has on his "list".

We're not too far from recruiting reporters knocking the doors of 8th graders, wanting an interview. Shoot, maybe it's already happening.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It doesn't, as long as you read it, the media will write it****

five times because every time the teacher asked him to count to ten, he kept saying: "One potato, two potatoes, three potatoes, four; five potatoes, six potatoes, I can't do no more...." (Just saying....)
