South Carolina would have spent those federal reconstruction dollars on a land grant University regardless of who slapped their name on it. It was free money, you think JC was gonna be like, no Bruh, we do not want any free plot of land and federal greenbacks to start our own college so the folks around here can learn about the industrial arts?


Or just maybe, NC would have gotten a 4th one instead.
