been very fond of the white jerseys and orange pants combo. The first time I saw Clemson come out in that combo, I was sitting in Wiliams-Brice Stadium and they came out in them for warm-ups. I can't recall if they were in all white and went in and changed. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Anyway, that was 1989 and Miami was the team that had that physical look like Bama does today. Well, when Clemson came out in that combo, they looked big and physical( probably because they were) like the Miami Hurricanes. I think our unis have and always will look tons better than Miami's, but at that time it was a powerful look. And that night they beat South Carolina 45-0. I was 26-years old and had to sit in the Carolina student section because my younger sister and her boyfriend, both Carolina students, got me a ticket. It was amazing to see what unfolded that night.

But back to your post. Even though I have always been pretty fond of the orange pants/white jersey, yes they will now stir great emotions knowing Clemson won our most recent national title in those uniforms.

right next to the pressbox with my father(who got tickets from a friend who had a premonition of what was going to happen). There were exactly SIX CLEMSON FANS in the whole section and somehow we all ended up next to other in a sea of Gamecoots. Their fans were well-behaved and polite,I really don't think that they expected a win, but were hoping for a close game. Clemson warmed up in the usual white pants, then came out in the Orange pants to play the game. I happened to be staring over in the broadcast booth at Bob Fulton when Clemson came out. He had an entire plate of fried chicken in his hands as he was standing there which he proceeded to drop on the floor, and said, "My God, they're in orange pants!". That game went south so fast for the Coots that by the third quarter there were about just equal numbers of us and them up there.

Still not my favorite combo but looked great on January 9.***
