have a wonderful 2 1/2 year old young man but he seems to favor the shamecocks. This past Saturday, my wife had him saying "USC goooo #####". We promised we would not push him either way and we were going to let him decide. Please tell me this is only a phase he is going through. I have a soft Clemson football that sings Tiger Rag and he enjoys it but Im hoping to get him to a Tiger game soon to help him with is thinking. HELP ME with some ideas.

Get a divorce. Put the kid up for adoption. This isn't looking good.
I'm kidding of course. But you may need to campaign a little harder.

Your kid is two years old!!!!!!! He will probably favor a dozen other teams before he is a teenager. By the time he is ready to go to school they may not have a team in Columbia so, problem solved. Make sure he develops into a good student. Otherwise, you may have no option.

Lie here on the couch and I'll explain how this works.

Boys hang with mama for the first five years. As soon as he stops getting those lumps in his pants start taking him everywhere you can. Somewhere around five Y/O he'll start choosing Daddy over Mama.
His male identity will take hold before he's seven and he'll associate a gamecock with the female gender. Don't push him toward the Tigers, draw and nurture him toward manhood. He has a natural instinct to want to be like Daddy so play that to the max.
Get ready to replace Mama if she figures out what you're doing. Everybody needs a plan B. And for the children's sake, pick a Tiger next time!

He is already a daddy's boy. I think it is a catchy phrase for him right now. I think once he gets to DV in a year of two, he'll love and want to go more. I hope there isn't a next time. I'm 45!!

I was fortunate enough to have a tiger father
Nov 4, 2013, 12:27 PM

And a (converted Cane) Tiger mother. Anytime a toy of mine would get broken accidentally, or one of my parents had a craving to drink my chocolate milk, they would blame the "gamecock" for coming in our house and breaking my toys and drinking my milk. Classic brainwashing at its finest. I remember I was 4 and saw Cocky at my first Carolina-Clemson game and said "I want my chocolate milk back!"

Real experience when my son was 2 years old...
Nov 4, 2013, 1:36 PM
|
|
...from the time he could hold a stuffed animal, he loved stuffed birds, especially ones with large beaks.
One weekend we were in Tigertown walking down Clemson Ave past one of the apparel shops when my son saw one of the figurines of a Tiger in a football uniform squeezing a chicken. He immediately asked, "what is that tiger doing to that chicken?" I told him that was Cocky and the Tiger was giving him a good choking. At which my son then promptly said, "I HATE THAT TIGER!"
Oh boy! I thought that I had lost him forever.
Over time though, I slowly brought him back from "chicken mania", with much historical information about the differences in the two programs.
Today, my son no longer suffers from "Coot Logic".
Hang in there.

We've been married 25 years, and was great until spurious came along. Our boys are grown, oldest is a Tiger, youngest couldn't stand the tension, goes to Alabama. I indoctrinated the boys from an early age on education vs vacation, that I considered their mother my rescue wife. Lessons like "life is hard, its harder when you're a gamecock" - say those things with conviction, and you're kid might turn out okay. Stay with your wife, a righteous man is like a crown to his wife - I think that's even Biblical.

You need to start taking the kid places with just you and him and engrave it in his brain. She may be your wife but if she is a Suck U fan she will still stab you in the back.

Get him to God's country right away. There should be available tickets for Citadel.
Run down the hill. Throw a football. Go on the field after the game and meet the players!
There's something in these hills.

Remind him that Usucks will never have a winning record against Clemson in his lifetime! LOL! Take him to a game, and let him see for himself, when he's old enough. That's all it took for mine, and I even converted the wife!

Real simple, take him to Clemson sporting events with you.
You should have already started doing this.
Parents need to take their children to Clemson Games starting at 18 months, do not wait until they are teens.

I am also married to a USUC grad, but prior to enrolling she was unaffiliated. It took two home games her freshman year for my bride to be to know she wanted nothing to do with that cesspool beyond her degree. Because of her experiences there and the experiences she had at Clemson she is now a die hard Clemson fan.
