Today in "things you never hear"

Uh oh. I can't hear the whining now

Feb 23, 2021, 1:50 AM

from all the Jeep owners for calling it a car. Nothing triggers a Jeep owner more than calling it a car, or heaven forbid... a truck.

Call it a FIAT.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, it IS a truck.

Feb 23, 2021, 11:58 AM [ in reply to Uh oh. I can't hear the whining now ]

I mean its not a huge truck, but it is a truck.

Does Biden have stock in Jeep?

Feb 23, 2021, 8:43 AM

Wait, it must be Pelosi. Oh, I don't know. Maybe they are in it together. But Jeep is the most reliably unreliable vehicle on the market. That is what a Trump friend told me.

Which Trump are you friends with?

The one that is always right - that's why we call him..., uh, her, Trump. :)

"most improved" award, like the kid in tee-ball who made great strides during the season by being able to actually make contact with the ball by the last game?

An automotive juice box, if you will.

Feb 23, 2021, 9:06 AM

That's why it's weird...Consumer Reports doesn't cater to the automakers' self-esteem with "Good job, Buddy" awards.

When you think about how Jeeps have been traditionally made,

Feb 23, 2021, 12:08 PM [ in reply to Is this overall reliability or is this a ]

I've always thought it must have been the owners fault they weren't more reliable. I mean when they were AMC, they were just built from other manufacturers parts. GM steering columns, Ford electronics, Chrysler transmissions, and off the shelf Dana and New process transmissions and rear ends.

Then when Chrysler got hold of them, they just put piece parts from all their other cars in them. They kind of still do, with the Chrysler corp v6 and ZF transmissions from the trucks in it.

Why would well known, well tested parts necessarily be unreliable? Why wouldn't they be even more reliable? One would think all the kinks would have been worked out of them by the time they got to a CJ, YJ or TJ. I mean look at the Grand Wagoneer (SJ)-they made that thing for 30 years using the same basic body style and engineering. People started work building those things, worked an entire career, and retired in the production life of the same basic vehicle. I mean after 3 or 4 years of building them, what was new and shocking? "Hey, they are putting TAN carpet in it this year!" After 30 years, shouldn't something be right??

Maybe they have finally gotten to the point they should have been all along.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

they sure do sell a lot of them

Feb 23, 2021, 9:12 AM

those things are everywhere.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm going to drive a diesel version today.

Feb 23, 2021, 11:59 AM

I might get one.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was all geeked out when they originally announced them

Feb 23, 2021, 12:47 PM

because when I was a kid, I wanted a Jeep pickup truck BAD.The neighbor had one, a Golden Eagle....it was glorious, looked much like this.

But when these new ones came out, heck they weren't much different than my JK Wrangler Unlimited with the top down. Looked exactly alike. I think they are 6" longer or something like that. Truck bed WAY too small for my liking. So I'll just keep the Wrangler.

Feb 23, 2021, 9:14 AM

Feb 23, 2021, 9:42 AM

of the Cherokee Nation. Is Cherokee the American name for ....Cherokee? Or is Cherokee their original name / pronunciation? Or is it like how Mexico is "me-ee-co" but as Americans we call it Mexico? #DeepThots
