Are these the best man corners we've ever had?

Oct 12, 2020, 10:00 AM

I can't remember a time when we had three guys we could trust to position themselves well and make plays on the ball like they are. They're still not perfect but Booth, Jones and Kendrick are all playing very well. When Alexander was here, teams could have success by not throwing to him. But on this team, they really have to pick their poison. I love it!

All three of them have picks while playing man over the last two games. Booth's super athletic PBU against Miami came when he was playing zone, but it was 3rd and 19 so we were in a weird, fluid Cover 3 looking formation that pretty typical of Coach V. Still. Love the success we're having in man! It's also led to some coverage sacks!

BOOTH the TROOTH!!! Dude is a stud. No idea why him and DK are starting together but the coaches know more than me.

One nice thing about the name/image/likeness stuff

Is that we'll be able to get cool shirts that say stuff like that while they're still in school!

As a complete unit probably yes. Longest, fastest and most athletic group I can remember in my 62 years as a TIGER. The front makes the QB get the ball out quickly and the DB's get their heads around quickly and are able to play receiver as much as the receiver does. What I like most is that these DB's and Safety's will lay the wood to them. Virginia and Miami receivers alike had their heads on swivels looking for the hit while trying to focus on the trajectory of the ball.

They are playing pretty amazing right now to be keeping you from mentioning Goodrich and Davis in the group.

Both of those guys have played really well in their limited snaps also.

Without a doubt the deepest we have ever been at corner. Usually in past seasons we see the corners as the guys who are at or near the top of the snap count each game because we rarely play the backups.

We do indeed have good depth

Goodrich and Davis aren't quite as polished, but they'll get there for sure. I remember Goodrich's PBU being kinda bumpy, meaning there could have been laundry depending on the zebra. But it still showed that he had the athleticism to keep up with his man and the skill to position himself well.

Remember Goodrich missed a lot of camp time and the first two games.

He is still knocking off the rust a little bit, but I think he is already playing on par with what we typically run out at starter in most years.

I think for a true freshman, Davis looks amazing! Way ahead of where any of the other guys mentioned were 4 games in. I just hope he continues to work to get better like the rest of the group has.

Ty Hill and Justin Miller were pretty darn good. I think Miller had 8 interceptions his freshman year.

Spy and trap all night. It's a QB nightmare unless you have 2 NFL WRs and 1-2 RB-TE that are NFL ready. Bama might have that, but their QB is a statue and you can defend him other ways.

Best CB group, yes. Island CBs allow CBV to cook up a wicked brew with the other 9 players; just ask Miami.

a couple more that were as good as DK

Oct 12, 2020, 1:25 PM

was Dexter Davis, and Donnell Wofford. Not sure we have had anyone as athletic as Booth. His hip quickness is off the charts. But as for 2 being on the field at the same time, DK and AB are the best that I can remember.

Donnell Woolford was considered the best CB in nation not

... not named Deon Sanders.
