much money as SEC schools like Alabama, UGA, Tennessee, etc., or Big 8 schools like Oklahoma and Nebraska, or Big 10 schools like Ohio St. and Michigan, or Pac 10 schools like USC and UCLA?

I don't know the answer, just curious.

Where did the money come from in those days?

Please, let's stop living in the past. Today is what matters. What happened thirty years ago is distant history. It's almost like continually bragging how we kicked the British out during the Revolutionary War. Interesting, granted, but not very relevant to today.

still studied about the American Revolution in our schools, because it is still relevant and there is still something to be learned from it. Also, we're talking about being relevant on the national scene, and the 80s just happens to be the last time we were.
