Well, Greenr's summer is officially F*CKED

May 12, 2020, 1:49 PM

Mom told me via text this morning that her oncologist told her she shouldn't fly to Colorado (I assumed as much) and she wants to move that trip to next summer. No HUGE issue, just got to figure out how to get money back from AirBnBs and flights. She was paying so it really isn't an option to just go, that was going to be a real expensive trip.

Then about 4 hours later, the guy we rent the OIB house from sent my wife a text that said his son works for Microsoft in NYC and cannot go back to the office until December so he is living at their beach house. He is cancelling all reservations (even though we have paid and been booked since before 2020).

Scrambling to repair all this is going to be stupid. I ain't mad, I'm just disappointed.

May take the beach house money and book a smaller Colorado trip, no Telluride and Moab, just Boulder and Breck.

drove out to CO a couple of years ago

May 12, 2020, 1:53 PM

wanted to take the dog with us

Not a bad trip, stopped and picked up some BBQ in Kansas City

Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile,
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!!

I was thinking arch in St. Louis to say we saw it, BBQ in KC

May 12, 2020, 1:54 PM

then call it good. Might still do it, depends on flights.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Naw dawg, southern route is the way to go.

May 13, 2020, 8:52 AM

Graceland, the Cadillac ranch, the beauty of New Mexico.....just stay in Durango and explore from there. It’s a super cool town.

I want to, I really do, but I am not going to subject myself

May 13, 2020, 8:55 AM

to 4 days of driving with 3 kids. We may not have 3 kids when we get back.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But is that necessarily a bad thing?

May 13, 2020, 9:01 AM

That child could end up seeing the entire US, work Amusement Parks and an alligator farm, and later become a radio sensation and marry the person of their dreams. End up with a better life than what you could have ever given them?

If your destination is southwest CO, the two routes are

May 13, 2020, 9:05 AM [ in reply to I want to, I really do, but I am not going to subject myself ]

Within about two hours of each other....before my COVID-19 setback, we were on track to make telluride in two days, and York proper is only another 7 hours from here....you could do it in 3 days.

I’d much rather bop around Santa Fe, Durango, Silverton, Ouray, etc than the front range.

Yeah, I was saying 2 hard days there, two hard days back

May 13, 2020, 9:11 AM

We will just fly out there next summer, move the trip a year. Unfortunately, the real negative side is that Mom was supposed to go with us but I am not sure she will still be around next summer and certainly not counting on her being 100% able to go.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sorry man, that sucks big-time. For all of your

May 13, 2020, 9:13 AM

Sakes, I hope she will be there having a big time when you do make that trip.

When we went out as a family when I was growing up,

May 13, 2020, 8:57 AM [ in reply to Naw dawg, southern route is the way to go. ]

we went through St. Louis and out to Colorado Springs. Saw Pike's Peak and a few other things before working our way down through Durango and eventually to the grand canyon. We came back the southern route and hit the attractions along that route on the way back.

After St. Louis there was NOTHING on that route, but Oklahoma and North Texas were nearly equally as boring.

ROH

Yeah OK and AR are dull, but Kansas is the longest

May 13, 2020, 9:01 AM

Stretch of nothing you’ll ever do. Just hours and hours and hours of wind farms. And you guys clearly didn’t stop here in Texas!

I'm sure there are some nice bookings available in beautiful

Gatlinburg. It's like the Myrtle Beach of the mountains. You get the best of both worlds.

Helping...it's what I do.

likewise, go to Tittywood in Pigeon Chit.***

A drunk will run a STOP sign, but a stoner will wait for it to turn green.

You guys should save your money and have yourselves a little

May 12, 2020, 3:06 PM

"stay-cation"

What do ya think? That's like a vacation but at home enjoying your family.

May 13, 2020, 8:42 AM

How about renting a different beach house?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, done. We got on that pretty quick. Had a sweet beach

May 13, 2020, 8:55 AM

front deal with our friend and so that was going to take a challenge to balance cost versus convenience. We luckily found another beach front one for about 30% more. It's just more money.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good move. Second row and back houses are

May 13, 2020, 9:07 AM

The UDP seats of beach lodging.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We got another week where we have to drive to the beach

May 13, 2020, 9:12 AM

from the house but I THINK there will be a golf cart. That one is much cheaper though and renting through a friend. That is our UDP week.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If your kids are like mine,

May 13, 2020, 9:17 AM

Riding/driving the golf cart is a much better attraction than sitting on the sand all day.

Somebody needs to be responsible enough to

May 13, 2020, 9:20 AM

drive my drunk ass home from the beach.

That is the main reason I like front row though, less responsibilities.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know its not a consolation

May 13, 2020, 8:45 AM

But you can come stay with Red and I while filling the roll of "live-in-nanny".

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsonrulez08.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Please forgive me, @IneligibleUser

Sorry to hear

May 13, 2020, 8:51 AM

that CS02 was fully booked for the summer. I guess it's just another in a long string of COVID disappointments.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, no

May 13, 2020, 9:01 AM

Steve will be there too. Hes been on the Peloton non stop. He removed the seat though. Cant figure that one out. He wild.
