OOC Scheduling, the ACC, #3, and the Pack

Sep 16, 2013, 10:10 AM

IMO, we cannot afford to back down on our OOC scheduling in the future. We have to have these games on the schedule, because nothing the majority of the ACC is doing will help us get to where we need to be. 1/2 the ACC gives me the "cupcake mentality" - you know the old "if you beat them you prove nothing, and if its close, or you lose to them, its disastrous". But these are conference teams, we have no choice but to play them.

Ironically, our last conference game was also against the Wolfpack in week 12. Then # 11 Clemson scored 62 points on the Pack, and the AP thought so much of our victory that they dropped us 2 spots to #13.

4 Non Conference games later, we are #3 in the country.

When we landed a home and home with Ugay...

we were creampuffs. It's unlikely an SEC team will expose themselves to the ### whuppin we put on Ugay in the near future.

Our best and only hope is that UL, ND, FSU, and UM keep up their rankings and somehow VT and somebody else gets straightened out.

With the exception of FSU, it seems we always continue

to wait for Programs like Miami to make it "back". But its going to take a while even then for voters to view ACC wins and loses differently. The big factor with the BCS was that loses, no matter to who, really hurt. So just winning used to be enough, but look at the SEC - they hold all the highest ranked 1 loss teams in the voting polls.

Making ND a member would help...The SEC is considered

Notre Dame in the ACC - Polls are based on perception

Sep 16, 2013, 11:42 AM

In 2014 Notre Dames schedule includes Syracuse, L-ville, UNC, WF, FSU, and Navy.

Why not put all 15 ACC teams into scheduling divisions and have the teams with the best DIVISIONAL records meet in the ACC-CG.

Atlantic (with cross divisional games in parenthesis):
CU (FSU)
VT (WF)
Miami (FSU)
GT (WF)
UVA (WF)
NCST (UNC)
BC (Syracuse)
Pitt (L-ville)
Duke (UNC)

Coastal (with cross divisional games in parenthesis):
FSU (Miami, CU)
Notre Dame
L-ville (Pitt, VT)
UNC (Duke, NCST)
Syracuse (BC)
WF (UVA, GT)
Navy FB only

The teams with the best DIVISIONAL records meet in the ACC-CG.

We have to play Scar too...and they are rarely ranked.

This hurts our OOC schedule in most years.
