Mar 25, 2013, 1:42 PM

went somewhere else to be successful? Noel Johnson-scrub, Donte Hill- who? Cory Stanton- if he's doing big things he's doing it without anyone knowing, any others?

Harvey left Clemson to go to a junior college before then signing with Oklahoma. I think Harvey may have left Clemson because of grade problems, not because of a desire to transfer elsewhere.

I was told he'd had a scrape with the police and that he and his family thought it best Harvey left for an area where he had a clean slate....but I was told this and have no proof

You might be right. I thought that someone told me it involved grades, but that was so long ago that maybe my memory is suspect.

I will never forget the Grant twins freshman year

Mar 25, 2013, 2:33 PM

they were skinny as rails and couldn't play a lick (from a little town in Ga.) - they grew into their bodies and one did transfer, but the one who did not transfer grew 2 inches and about 40 lbs of muscle and became a Chicago Bull star for quite a few years! The other Grant did not make it to the NBA, but he Fathered J. Grant who ended up having a good senior year here a few years ago. Also, he is Father of Jerai Grant who unfortunately is starring at Notre Dame!

ugh, Harvey was a 1st round pick of the Washington Bullets

thats kind of irrelevant to the current program. the transfers of the past 10 years or so have only opened up a spot for someone else to try and do better. every time Bernard got the ball I cringed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that says more about our program evaluating players and

Mar 25, 2013, 1:55 PM

developing them more anything else...not really a reflection on a player in my opinion. If a player leaves and he's not good why did you recruit him in the first place or why wasn't he developed further as a player.

Of course there are exceptions to this...player simply doesn't work or gets into trouble.

Ben Boggs started for Valpraiso. Montrezl harrell plays for Louisville. And Tyrone Garland hit the winning shot for LaSalle last night.

Guys that have left their program are having a little more luck than our guys do. Probably because they (VT)had better players to start with.

Mar 25, 2013, 2:31 PM

up, Ramon Galloway, is a legit coot transfer who actually played for them. In a brilliant move, Darren Horn told him he'd be coming off the bench for Damien Leonard. LOL.

Say what you want about Brownell but he isn't Horn.

Heck, we'd have had Holloway if Korncoot hadn't screwed it up.
