How young is too young?

Doing a little vacationing at the grand strand and figured the Lunge could answer the question. How old should your children be before they get their first tattoo?
Perhaps folks such as FBCooch have investigated this and know the correct answer or at least have an opinion. I have no young children but wanted to know the consensus of the Lunge on this.
Thanks for all serious answers.
And super thanks for the non-serious answers.

If you say it’s just because all your friends are doing it, then I’ll roll my eyes and let you do it on your own. I told my daughter if she had a good reason, I’d pay for her first one.

my children will not be getting a tattoo until they are out of the house and off the payroll.
I think a lot of tattoos I see on folks today are trashy. Plus, I think I think/know a lot of people who get tats when younger and regret the decision later in life. Depending on what kind of job you want, they can also be career limiting.
I've got plenty of friends and family members with tats and it surely doesn't impact my opinion of them, but I sure as heck won't be getting one, nor will my kids while under my care.

Ink and piercings are marks to identify a slave. So, it's honest for some men to get their wife's name inked in a visable place their body. I recommend a GPS chip to go with it.
Yes, I have a chip about ink and piercings but it's on my shoulder.

I'm just shocked in this "enlightened" day and age that tattoos haven't been deemed racist symbols of the antebellum slave trade. I suppose we'll get there eventually.

I work with a lot of 20 somethings and most have some kind of tattoo
Simple small things on a wrist and back of neck are most common
A couple have a lot of visible ones on arms and big back things that aren't visible
A friends brother who is 26 just got one and the family isn't pleased, but they know they can't do anything about it (obviously not now that it's there)
I told one of the co-workers that as an "old" man I just assume that they all have tats and smoke weed. She was like, yeah I have a tat and smoke weed
Hopefully as the low rise jeans are coming back tramp stamps don't come back
